Displaced native 中期英語 lutter (“pure, clear, sincere”) (from 古期英語 hlūtor, hluttor), 中期英語 skere (“pure, sheer, clear”) (from 古期英語 scǣre and Old Norse skǣr), 中期英語 schir (“clear, pure”) (from 古期英語 scīr), 中期英語 smete, smeate (“pure, refined”) (from 古期英語 smǣte; compare 古期英語 mǣre (“pure”)).
