Hello fursuiters and fursuit creater community,I am currently creating my first fursuit(and using a resin base)for a star nose mole character. The problem that I have encountered is that due to the nose and extra foam added onto the base the front has become unevenly heavy. Does anyone have any ideas as to how I might be able to counterbalance the weight?Thank you in advance! P.s. I'm making some adjustments to a head I made and realized I made the neck a bit to large at the base, so I get these little folds in the front (pictured). I'm at a bit of a loss on how to fur it seeing on how it has bit of a unique shape and that this will be my first project. I've found more recent posts regarding to this but it seems all the links for the diveskin everyone recommends is broken. SO, I did some digging on the same site and I think I found the right one, but I want to be sure before I order! http://www.divers-supply.com/edge-sport-lycra-skin.html#product_tabs_attributeRight now I've just been using some cotton/spandex leggings and a tank which works okay, but even being in my own house it feels pretty toasty. (My house runs cold (60-65deg), especially being winter in MI). Plus I sweat a fair amount and I fear those would be soaked at my first outing. I've read where a lot of people recommend these diveskins and thought it might be an idea to try. Though I guess my other concern would be the sizing. I'm 5'5" about 165lbs, the sizing chart recommends a LG for 150-175lbs but height in that range is 5'9"-6'2". My main concern is my calves and I don't want it to be too tall, but obviously want it to fit comfortably. Does anyone have any experience or advice about sizing?And on a different note. I'm getting ready to fur a balaclava based head. I'm guessing I don't tape the neck/too low on the head so a person could actually get it on their head right? Just sew a neck on based on measurements? I have no problems doing that, just checking what others do. I want to still be able to get the head on after furring. The ones I have seen look really neat, so I'm wondering -- are they somehow awful to wear? Is there some hidden drawback that makes them unpopular? Am I failing my search-google roll and just missing the tutorials?Tags:eyes, neck Hey guys! I finnished my wolf suit today. I'd love some ideas on how to improve him. I know I need to chqnge the eyes, and line the mouth. ( need more leather) I hand dyed all the fur and hand sculpted the nose, teeth, and claws. And yes, that is fun fur. My new character has a large mane around her neck that goes from the top of the neck down to the chest. How would I make the neck of this suit? I'm thinking to attach half the mane to the head to make the neck and then sew the rest where it's is going to be. Or making the whole mane attached to the head? Maybe makeing it out of foam? Am I over thinking it? Any ideas? I'm Rix or Rixon. My animal is a mix between a hyena and an African wild dog. This is my first time building a fursuit and Rix will be a partial suit..I was really really hoping I could get some help, I've found myself in a bit of a rut with continuing the head (sorry for all the questions you're about to be bombarded with)Firstly, I think Rix is starting to look more canine than anything else. I tried to make the ears as "hyena-like" as possible, but it seems like he's looking more canine, and that's kind of upsetting..(also, he's missing a nose, I ordered one from etsy) and YES he does have a moving jaw..I'm a risky first timer..hehEYEBROWS..I don't know what to do. Rix is supposed to be a very devious, grumpy character (I think I attached a picture of a drawing) I feel like the mouth is something I already messed up (I couldn't get the smirking expression down) and now he looks like he's smiling!!! (Ugh) I know the eyebrows will help a lot but I'm not very happy with how my progress is going..Fur. I am scared to fur Rix because I feel like it will be a disaster. I don't know how to sew! I recently finished my first 3/4 suit. This is also the first suit that I have added digigraide padding in, and I would like to know what you think. I needs lots of practice on making eyes, as you can see. I ordered a sheet of buckram to make these ones, so they are my first buckram eyes. I think they pass for an ok for first ones. Any tips on improving my eye construction? I have recently finished sculpting my first balaclava fursuit head of my fursona, Griffin. I asked for advice on making it better and got awesome feedback. Here's some pictures of it. (I feel bad for posting so much lately. Sorry) If any of you have noticed the showing seams in some places, they are my method of making healed over scars. Griffin is a very scared up wolf. (If you have not already noticed the ear.) Just sayin' Also I have not added the neck and inside of the ears yet due to not having enough dyed fur. I also have a question about padded four-fingered handpaws. I don't want to do them with a glove. Is there any way you can do them without a glove. If you have done it, know a tutorial on how to do it, or have knoledge on how to do it can you please tell me. It's already five pounds in its unfinished state, which means it could really do a number on my tiny neck when it's completed.And so, I'm wondering if any of you have constructed a neck or shoulder base (or rather, brace) that would help take the brunt of the weight and make mask-wearing more manageable. Suggestions are appreciated!Tags:heads, horns, neck, thoughts Greetings, my fur friends!I'm currently making an elk suit with an ENORMOUS pair of antlers, which I fear will add a lot of weight to an otherwise lightweight mask. Before I tackle mounting these suckers, I just wondered if any of you had any experience with heavy masks and how to manage them. My last suit had a mask that was about 3.5 pounds, which doesn't sound too bad until you realize that my neck is carrying 135% of my head weight every time I wear it. Ouch! I don't want another mask that will make my neck and shoulders ache so badly after only an hour or two of suiting.Are there any harnesses I should know about? Shoulder pads? Fancy neck ruffles? And I'm wondering if you can use isopropyl alcohol on fur? (a 60/40 solution with water) I have already sprayed the inside of the head with the solution, and let dry, but I'm wondering if I can use it to clean fur, too. I've looked around for information, but I've only seen people talking about alcohol on foam, not fur.My neck fur has gotten a bit dirty for my liking (I just want to make sure there is no bacteria in it), so I'm wondering if I could spritz some alcohol on the fur and brush it in? Please tell me if that would work, all help is appreciated!!
