The potterymaterial shows an interesting placement for the settlement both culturally and chronologically. The buildings of thesettlement are of special interest, because of the rarity of known Tumulus houses in the region, and the absence ofthis settlement type in the period, showing us the lowest link in the chain of hierachy of settlements.

A dél-dunántúli Baranya megye lelőhelyeinek vizsgálatával a kommunikációs/kereskedelmi útvonalak változásához kapunk adatokat.

The site is dated between 3692 (68,2%) 3648 and 3651 (68,2%) 3628 calBC, the lesser known proto Boleráz phase of the Hungarian Copper Age.

highway, on the multiperiod site of Kunszentmárton – Gyalu-puszta II.,
a Late Iron Age semi-subterranean building was found. The building
situated on the side of the IV. trench and only half of it lay inside of it.
This gave us an opportunity to excavate the other side of the building
from the original surface and see the layers that were destroyed by
the humus removal. The building has a nearly square shape, the main
axis of it is E-W, where two deeper post holes were excavated, on the N-S axis shallow post places were found. These were not dug out in-
tentionally, just the weight of the posts pressed the floor to a 5-10 cm
depth. The building contained only a few pottery sherds that belonged
to 15 vessels along with a sharpening stone. Most of the vessels are of
generic form, with a few specific ones. The ceramic remains date the
house to the L Téne C period. The building fits into the type of small
settlements, with only a few buildings situated on a high bank, which
are known from region.

The urn was part of a cemetery as a few sherds were gathered as well that can be attributed to other urns. The grave belongs to the early phase of the Tumulus Period Rákóczifalva Group. Although just one full grave set was uncovered and given to the museum, the pottery material can shed some light on the formative phase of this cultural group.

There was only a few selected areas of the country that had extended surveys that can be used for such study like Veszprém (vol. 1–4.), Pest (vol. 7.; 9.; 11.), Komárom-Esztergom (vol. 5.), and Békés (vol. 8.; 10.) counties where the Hungarian Archaeological Topography project was carried out. Other such region is Csongrád county where the archaeology students of the University of Szeged surveyed the land of the county for several decades and their findings where the base of many disserta-tion written there. And there are a few pockets were local archaeologists did the survey in preparation for an MRT volume that never got published. One such area is the Tiszazug, the topic of this article. The article is about a preliminary look at the Bronze Age sites of the region and how the settlement pattern changes throughout the periods.

The settlement starts at the end of the Hungarian Middle Bronze Age, the Koszider Period. It lives through the Tumulus Period and ends in the Urnfield Period. The material is fragmented but gives valuable new data to this period of the region.
