The amount of research has been done through different methods, instrument and scope. These various approaches have brought contradictory answers of the questions - is there any effect of gender on the language acquisition? If so, to what extent gender demonstrates its influence on language learning? More specifically, does gender difference demonstrate different lexical acquisition of second language learners? Does gender solely affect second language learners lexical acquisition? Burning questions come up along with the various perspectives and paradigm held by practitioners. This study aimed to find out locutionary, illocutionary, perlocutionary acts and to find out what... more This study aimed to find out locutionary, illocutionary, perlocutionary acts and to find out what is the most dominant speech acts in Joko Widodo's speech at United Nation General Assembly in 2020. This study is a qualitative study, the researcher uses descriptive method. The source of this research data is a video of Jokowi Widodo's speech at United Nation General Assembly in 2020. The main data in this study are the utterances of Joko Widodo's speech dated September 23, 2020, which is downloaded via YouTube. The instrument of this study is the researchers themselves. The researchers collected the data by downloading a YouTube video of Jokowi Widodo. Then, listening to the speech and transcribe speech into written language. Examination of the validity of the data was done by using triangulation. Data analysis was done by (1) transcribing the recording data in written language, (2) classifying speech acts (3) analyzing the data, (4) making conclusion of the research. The researchers found 35 utterances, they are 6 locutionary acts and 29 illocutionary acts. The researchers didn't find perlocutionary act. The most dominant speech act was done by Joko Widodo are assertive locutionary acts.
