The research aims to determine the main features of the poetics and musical-aesthetic concept of ... more The research aims to determine the main features of the poetics and musical-aesthetic concept of the “Fu on Whistling” by Chenggong Sui, a renowned Chinese poet of the 3rd century CE. This work, considered a classic among Chinese fu on music, is the first and most in-depth exploration of the philosophy of artistic whistling, which played a significant role in classical Chinese culture and literature. The paper ex- amines Chenggong Sui’s biography and literary legacy, provides a categorized translation of the fu with introductory comments and textual annotations, analyzes its poetics in comparison to other fu on music, and identifies the main sources and tenets of the concept of whistling art developed by the author. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the fact that this fu by Chenggong Sui for the first time serves as the subject of a separate and comprehensive study that covers various aspects of its structure and content. The work is also translated into Russian for the first time. As a result of the research, the features of the Fu's poetics are revealed, the archaic-mythological, Daoist, and Confucian sources of the concept of whistling and its main functions are identified: achieving unity with the Dao, moral education, and providing aesthetic pleasure.

The research aims to determine the meaning, place and main features of the artistic whistling “xi... more The research aims to determine the meaning, place and main features of the artistic whistling “xiao” 啸 in the traditional culture and classical literature of China. The paper considers the earliest theoretical generalizations of the Chinese about whistling, indicates the whistling forms and techniques created by them, traces the history of whistling art in the context of the development of Chinese literature and identifies its various functions and influence on the creative work of writers. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the fact that for the first time in domestic Sinology, Chinese whistling becomes the subject of a special comprehensive study: the philosophical basis, aesthetics and literary significance of artistic whistling are revealed, the periodization of the history of this art is given with a sufficiently detailed consideration of the most important epochs and periods, a classification of “xiao” is presented according to different types; its use in folklore and literature is analyzed. As a result of the research, a special and rather noticeable place of artistic whistling in Chinese traditional culture was determined, the philosophical and aesthetic essence of this phenomenon was revealed, the main functions and genre varieties of whistling art were identified, and its significance in Chinese classical literature was uncovered.

The aim of the research is to determine the main features of the poetics and musical concept of t... more The aim of the research is to determine the main features of the poetics and musical concept of the “Rhapsody on the Mouth Organ” by the famous Chinese poet of the 3rd century AD Pan Yue. This work is necessary for understanding his life and writings and is one of the classical examples of fu about musical instruments in Chinese literature. The paper provides a rubricated translation of the work with explanations, analyses its composition, considers the main poetical and aesthetic views of the author. The research is novel in that it is the first not only in Russian, but also in Western Sinology to choose this fu by Pan Yue as the subject of a special comprehensive study covering various aspects of its structure and content. In addition, it is the first time that the work has been translated into Russian. As a result of the research, the features of the composition of this fu have been revealed, its critical pathos in combination with an elegiac motif has been determined, the cultural and aesthetic attributes of the mouth organ as a means of emotional catharsis have been identified, the significance of the work in the elegiac tradition of China has been established.

The research aims to determine the main characteristics of the life and literary works of one of ... more The research aims to determine the main characteristics of the life and literary works of one of the most prominent Chinese poets of the late 3rd century CE Pan Yue. The paper examines the biography of the author in its various periods and stages, the themes and uniqueness of his works in different traditional genres, as well as the historical fate and significance of his literary legacy. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the fact that it is the first time in Russian Sinology that the life and poetry of Pan Yue become the subject of a specific and comprehensive study: a detailed periodization of his biography is provided, a thematic classification of his works is presented, the related discussions in Chinese tradition are analyzed, the key importance of Pan Yue’s “Rhapsody on the Mouth Organ” for understanding his worldview, creative work and life conflicts is revealed. As a result of the research, the main periods and stages in Pan Yue’s biography have been established; the contradictory nature of traditional evalua- tions of the poet’s verses has been explained; the main themes of his works with the central theme of mourning for the deceased have been identified; the aesthetic significance of the category of sorrow in Pan Yue’s literary works as a means of restoring harmony and life has been clarified.

The paper examines the biographical information about Ma Rong that is most significant for exploring the specified topic, provides a detailed rubricated translation of the ode with introductory explanations and a textual commentary, gives a detailed analysis of the com- position and the main poetological and musical-aesthetic ideas of Ma Rong in comparison with his predeces-
sor Wang Bao, sheds light on Ma Rong’s role as a forerunner of new, early medieval trends in the development of culture, hermeneutics, musical aesthetics and literature of ancient China. Scientific novelty of the research lies in conducting a comprehensive and historical-typological study of the “Rhapsody on the Long Flute” involving modern achievements of various humanities. This work is also translated into Russian for the first time. As a result, the researcher has identified the thematic-rhythmic structure of the ode and the main provisions of its poetological and musical-aesthetic concept: about song poetry and instrumental music as intellectual knowledge, creating a musical classification of philosophical schools, highlighting philosophy as the main subject of interpretation in flute playing, emphasizing the aesthetic aspect.

The aim of the study is to determine the main principles and categories of Lu Ji’s poetics in the... more The aim of the study is to determine the main principles and categories of Lu Ji’s poetics in the “Ode on Literature”, its internal unity and the criteria of literary character. The scientific novelty of the work lies in the complex and historical-typological consideration of various aspects of the writer’s poetological concept. The obtained results showed that the poetics of Lu Ji as an integral aesthetic system is determined by the principles of correspondence and imitation, is based on the categories of work, creative work and author, provides for the unity of natural talent and skill, forms the notions of conception, idea, in spiration, imagination, beauty, proceeds from the understanding of the literature specifics as an art form.

In this regard, the thematic-rhythmic structure of the work is revealed. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the comprehensive study of this text, its composition and poetological technique. A new translation of the ode is also given. As a result, the thematic division and rhythmic structure of the work are identified, the general features of Lu Ji’s literary reflection are revealed, the main methods of his logical-rhetorical technique and its aesthetic significance are determined.

The aim of the study is to determine the main points, collisions and peculiarities of Lu Ji’s lif... more The aim of the study is to determine the main points, collisions and peculiarities of Lu Ji’s life path based on the analysis of biographical information about him in early sources. The scientific novelty lies in the comprehensive research of various aspects of Lu Ji’s biography contributing to the refinement of its periodization and deeper understanding of the poet’s works. All the fragments from biographies are also translated into Russian for the first time. As a result, the chronology of the stages and periodization of Lu Ji’s biography are clarified, the main collisions in it, their connection with the peculiarities of his worldview and creativity are identified, and associations between the principles of political technology and the poetics of the poet’s main work are revealed.

The study aims to identify features of poetics and musical conception of “Fu on the Panpipes” by ... more The study aims to identify features of poetics and musical conception of “Fu on the Panpipes” by Wang Bao (I century BC), the first surviving ode in the history of China specially devoted to description of a musical instrument. Scientific novelty of the work lies in the fact that this ode has never before been a subject of special study from the holistic and historical-typological viewpoint with the use of modern achievements of the humanities. It is also the first time that the ode has been translated into Russian. As a result, the researcher has identified the main principles of poetics and musical conception of the ode, which concern composition, genre features, pathetic and elegiac motifs, symbolism, compositional and stylistic devices.

The article considers poetics of the first Chinese “choreographic” poem “Ode to Dance” (Fu Wuzhon... more The article considers poetics of the first Chinese “choreographic” poem “Ode to Dance” (Fu Wuzhong, I century A.D.) that describes the Chinese plate dance (Pan wu). Scientific originality of the paper lies in the fact that relying on the modern humanities knowledge, the researcher for the first time provides a comprehensive historical and typological analysis of the literary work under study, offers his own translation of this previously untranslated poetical piece. The research findings are as follows: the author reveals compositional peculiarities of the poem and identifies the basic provisions of its choreographic conception: secular nature of dance, its autonomous aesthetic meaning, programme nature, dramatism, the key role of imagination in the art of dance, understanding dance as a choreographic ballade.

The article examines “The Great Preface” (I century AD) to the canonical “Book of Songs” (Shi jin... more The article examines “The Great Preface” (I century AD) to the canonical “Book of Songs” (Shi jing) – the earliest and most influential poetics in the Chinese literary tradition. The research objectives are as follows: to describe this poetics as a comprehensive whole revealing its structural integrity. Scientific originality of the paper lies in the fact that relying on achievements of the western literary criticism, philology, rhetoric and logic, the author provides a comprehensive typological analysis of the literary work under study. The findings indicate that, with a tendency to recognize self-sufficiency of poetry, “The Great Preface” poetics establishes a utilitarian-rhetorical approach to poetical creativity.

The article considers poetics of the first Chinese “choreographic” poem “Ode to Dance” (Fu Wuzhon... more The article considers poetics of the first Chinese “choreographic” poem “Ode to Dance” (Fu Wuzhong, I century A.D.) that describes the Chinese plate dance (Pan wu). Scientific originality of the paper lies in the fact that relying on the modern humanities knowledge, the researcher for the first time provides a comprehensive historical and typological analysis of the literary work under study, offers his own translation of this previously untranslated poetical piece. The research findings are as follows: the author reveals compositional peculiarities of the poem and identifies the basic provisions of its choreographic conception: secular nature of dance, its autonomous aesthetic meaning, programme nature, dramatism, the key role of imagination in the art of dance, understanding dance as a choreographic ballade.

The article examines “The Great Preface” (I century AD) to the canonical “Book of Songs” (Shi jin... more The article examines “The Great Preface” (I century AD) to the canonical “Book of Songs” (Shi jing) – the earliest and most influential poetics in the Chinese literary tradition. The research objectives are as follows: to describe this poetics as a comprehensive whole revealing its structural integrity. Scientific originality of the paper lies in the fact that relying on achievements of the western literary criticism, philology, rhetoric and logic, the author provides a comprehensive typological analysis of the literary work under study. The findings indicate that, with a tendency to recognize self-sufficiency of poetry, “The Great Preface” poetics establishes a utilitarian-rhetorical approach to poetical creativity.

A new translation into Russian of a treatise by the prominent Chinese thinker Mengzi (IV – III ce... more A new translation into Russian of a treatise by the prominent Chinese thinker Mengzi (IV – III centuries BC), the second after Confucius creator of Confucianism and the forerunner of neo-Confucianism, for the first time accompanied by a complete translation of the comments on Mengzi written by the most profound connoisseurs of this philosopher - Zhao Qi (108 - 201) and Zhu Xi (1130 - 1200). The main subjects of study are the text itself and the philosophy embodied in it, the study of Mengzi’s biography only serves the main task - to understand the teachings of the ancient philosopher, not alone, but in dialogue with wise connoisseurs of Chinese culture. Translations of ancient texts are preceded by research and are accompanied by notes, a brief chronology, bibliography and indexes.

"Daodejing" - the lyric-philosophical treatise of the great ancient Chinese thinker Laozi (VI - V... more "Daodejing" - the lyric-philosophical treatise of the great ancient Chinese thinker Laozi (VI - V centuries BC) is one of the most paradoxical and profound works of world philosophical literature. It refers to the source and foundation of the classical culture of China, defining many of its significant features.
The book contains a new literary translation of the treatise, as well as the first statements about Laozi in the Chinese tradition: his biography, written by the founder of Chinese historiography, Sima Qian (II-I centuries BC), Zhuangzi (IV - III centuries BC), who was the most outstanding follower of Laozi, a classic commentary on Daodejing by Wang Bi (III centure AD), and also materals of Liu Xiang and Lezi. A response is given to the teachings of Laozi by prominent figures of Russian and Western culture - L. Tolstoy, Vl. Solovyov, V. Vasiliev, A. Schweitzer, H. Hesse, K. Jaspers, G. Borel (all texts are commented). The book reveals the depth of the philosophical thought of Daodejing, and outlines the place of this treatise in the world intellectual tradition.
