During the Rákóczi War of Independence, three national assemblies took place in today's Transcarp... more During the Rákóczi War of Independence, three national assemblies took place in today's Transcarpathia, two in Khust (Huszt) in 1706 and 1709 and one in Shalanky (Salánk) in 1711. They played a significant role in shaping national policy. At the same time, we should also know that only a limited number of representatives of those who were invited participated in all three occasions. This can be explained by which side the senators were on in the given period, the side of the emperor or the war of independence. The aim of this study is to examine in detail the circumstances of the 1706 Khust National Assembly and the decisions made there, as well as their significance. The central issue was the conclusion of the federal agreement between the two countries, Transylvania and Hungary, which ensured a wider international scope for the leaders of the war of independence. It is true that the representatives of the Transylvanian orders were not fully present at this national assembly, as the pro-imperial Transylvanian nobility stayed away, but this did not affect the legality of the decisions. Important deliberations were held and decisions were made about the accommodation and care of the nobility fleeing Transylvania to Hungary and their servants. The flood of refugees mainly affected the area of today's Transcarpathia, where the pro-Rákóczi nobility who moved out of Transylvania settled down or moved on. At first, the leadership of the counties viewed the refugees with understanding, but years later conflicts arose from the forced coexistence, which are richly reported in the documents of the counties of Uzh (Ung) and Uhocha (Ugocsa), which can still be found today in the Transcarpathian State Archives. It is stated that Khust National Assembly demonstrated the high degree of alliance between Hungary and Transylvania, the importance of which they wanted to use in negotiations with the imperial court. It is known, however, that these peace negotiations did not lead to success, but the federal system of the two countries survived even later.

The details of the history of the Rákóczi War of Independence concerning cities engage researcher... more The details of the history of the Rákóczi War of Independence concerning cities engage researchers even today. The history of the war in relation to cities is a less researched topic. Many open questions regarding the history of Berehove still need to be clarified, including the period of the Rákóczi War of Independence. The aim of our research is to present a section of the historical past of the town of Berehove with the help of new archival sources, which show the uniqueness of the history of our region and the country. The centre of Bereg County was the third scene of the Kuruc flag-unfolding. On the one hand, the modest source base, on the other hand, the unanswered questions raised make our theme topical. In order to reconstruct the contemporary history of Berehove, we used primary sources and contemporary diaries, which are available in the Transcarpathian State Archives. Therefore, we present the events with the help of archive sources and academic literature. Berehove’s role in the war of independence is significant as it was the first town to get under the insurgents’ rule, Ferenc Rákóczi II also maintained a castle here and many inhabitants of the town became Kuruc warriors. In our study, we processed the transition of Berehove, the first Kuruc town, to the side of the war of independence and the consequences of this. The chief judge of the town, in whose hands the military or police force was not yet concentrated at the time, was among the first to stand by the side of the national liberation war, followed by several residents of the town after the flag-unfolding. The results include a description of the letters written to the prince by the people of the town and the answer given to them, where the most burning problems of the poor city dwellers appear. Furthermore, tracking the fate of the town’s chief judge after the war of independence is also described in the paper. Berehove has preserved the cult of the Rákóczi War of Independence for centuries, as many monuments testify to this day and it is revived every year.

The whole educational process had to undergo cardinal changes in that it was forced to transition from face-to-face to online mode. Distance learning (DL) became the new reality in no time. This unusual situation prompted us to conduct research on what challenges it meant for tutors to cope with the new requirements. The main goal of our case study was to get insights into the altered daily routines of tutors and understand how the system functioned. Another objective of our survey was to provide a brief synthesis of distance learning, based on the academic literature. We have applied the qualitative research design, using a semi-structured interview as a research instrument for collecting data from the respondents. The research sample consisted of thirty-four college tutors teaching language and literature (English, German, Ukrainian, and Hungarian). The
