Indonesia is one of the largest sea cucumber exporting countries in the Southeast Asia region, with total export of fresh sea cucumber products with amount of 12,971 kg at a price of 193.725 USD $ and dry products (smoked and salted) amounting to 741.815 kg at a price of 2,195,957 USD $ in 2016. Sandfish sea cucumber (Holothuria scabra) is one of 70 species of sea cucumber that can be consumed and currently it's existence has been exploited throughout the country, this marine animal is mostly produced in tropical countries. One of shallow waters area that is suitable for sand sea cucumber cultivation is located in Sumberkima Village, a village located in Bali Province, Buleleng Regency, Gerokgak District, which has a bay area flanked by shallow waters which can be explored at low tide without a boat, so that it's water area is widely used for aquaculture activities because it is quite protected from a geographical point of view. The purpose of this study was to determine the optimal, normal and unsuitable location for sandfish sea cucumber cultivation. Field surveys, lab tests and analysis of digital maps were carried out to determine the locations that had the best scores in the ecological and social categories. The results of measurement of ecological parameters and digital map analysis show that Sumberkima Village bay has an optimal location for cultivation at coordinates 114.613964 LS,-8.124182 North Latitude (station 5) and 114.613452 LS,-8.128539 LU (station 4) while the location with normal conditions is at coordinates 114.620010 ,-8. 121581 (station 7), the optimal area that can be use for is 6200 m 2 and normal area is 4400 m 2 .

Potential mariculture activities in the Dampier Strait Conservation Area, which are indicated by the availability of water space and local commodities, can have a multiplier effect on socio-ecological aspects. Therefore, reasonable development steps are needed to carry out environmentally friendly aquaculture. This study aims to determine the potential use of water space for the development of mariculture activities based on the level of suitability using multiple approaches. Suitability analysis was carried out with Geographic Information System (GIS) based on the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) by considering the area's characteristics using several aspects seen from the geographical conditions and water quality (physical, chemical, and biological). Based on the suitability analysis results, the potential water space that can be used for mariculture development activities, namely seaweed and pearl oyster cultivation was 1,130.45 ha (0.49% of the overall space allocation 232,588.59 ha). A justification was then carried out to determine a suitable location in terms of its accessibility and environmental friendliness. The analysis has shown promising results in determining potential locations for developing mariculture activities for seaweed and pearl oyster commodities based on sustainable and environmentally friendly cultivation.
Site selection of aquaculture location in Indonesia Sea

Aquaculture is one of the methods of fish farming that can be developed at rivers, lakes or seas. To determine a proper location for aquaculture site, there are some requirements that need to be fulfill to maintain sustainibility of floating cages. Those requirements are bathymetry, meteorology or climate, water quality parameters, and quality of environmental and biological information as well as the legal framework. This paper will discuss the site selection of aquaculture activities using geographical information system based on environmental factors and water quality. The study take place on Prigi Bay, Trenggalek, East Java, Indonesia. The result show that the Prigi bay generally suitable for aquaculture activities. The result of weighted overlay analysis show that 23.13% of the water area (about 8.33 km2 ) considered as “very suitable” and the rest area of 76.87% of water area considered as “ suitable”.

The coastal area of Labakkang District has a wide brackish water pond, but its productivity is relatively low. A research to determine land suitability as one of the brackish water pond productivity raising project is needed. Considerable factors in determining land suitability for shrimp aquaculture covers topography and hydrology, soil conditions, water quality and climate. Quality of water is observed during rainy and dry season. Spatial analysis using Geographic Information System is applied in the determination of land suitability for shrimp aquaculture. Results of the analysis reveal that within an area of 4,986 ha of brackish water pond in Labakkang District, there are 1,059 ha classified as highly suitable (class S1), 2,676 ha of pond is moderately suitable (class S2), 1,151 ha of pond is marginally suitable (class S3) and 102.7 ha is not suitable (class N) during rainy season, while during dry season there are 10.26 ha classified as S1, 3,591 ha classified as S2, 225,97 ha classified as S3 and 360.9 ha classified as class N. Delimitation factors during rainy season is flood, while salinity is the main limiting factor during dry season. Generally, other limiting factors are country mile of the water sources, low level of pH soil and roughness of soil texture in certain area.

North Sulawesi, a region that has experienced a decreasing population of commercial sea cucumbers in Indonesia, has recently been designated an aquaculture development area. Spatial Analysis to Evaluate the Suitability of Seaweed Farming Site in Lampung Bay, Indonesia
Seaweed is a promising fishery product. Potential aquaculture of which in Lampung Province is estimated around 2260.5 ha. Several seaweed farming efforts have been carried out in Lampung Bay (Indonesia). However, they faced failure. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out spatial analysis to understand the level of seaweed farming suitability in the bay. This study was carried out in five observation site groups with total 20 sampling points and employed survey through spatial and temporal approaches as the study method. Geo-statistical model was used for earth surface mapping, both for biotic and abiotic components. Each station was then be given value to determine suitability class. The class was determined by making aquatic suitability matrix for each physical, chemical and biological parameter. Results acquired indicate that Lampung Bay area is not suitable as seaweed farming site. However the area is open for any suggestion.

Karimunjawa National Park (KNP) is a nature conservation area which has an original ecosystem and a highly diverse coral reef. The management of fisheries in KNP uses the zoning system and regulation of fishing gear. This article was written to explain the effectiveness of the zoning system in the management of reef fisheries. The study was conducted in KNP in Jepara Regency, Central Java Province between April and September 2015. The data were collected using the survey method, including both primary and secondary data. The respondents were reef fishers who live in Karimunjawa and Kemujan villages, chosen randomly and numbered 94 people. The analysis shows the actual land suitability of the existing ponds in Barru district, namely 2.399 ha, where land is classified as highly suitable (S1 class), 232.94 ha (9.71%) classified as moderately suitable (S2 class), 1,444.20 ha (60.20%) classified as marginally suitable (S3 class), 721.14 (30.06%) and classified as marginally low suitable (N class), 0.72 ha (0.03%), Limiting factors during the rainy season are the flood, while salinity is the main limiting factor during a dry season. Analysis of growth of sandfish Holothuria scabra cultured at different cultivated habitat

The problem in the sea cucumber culture development in Indonesia is the difficulty to find the culture area that could provide optimal production. This study analyzed the cultivated habitat that could provide optimal growth, proximate and total energy to sandfish Holothuria scabra cultivated in different habitats. The study was done from March to June 2011 in the Puteangin Island, Lasitae Village, District Tanete Rilau, Barru Regency, South Sulawesi. The cage size used was 2 m in length, 1 m in width, and 1.5 m in height. The net mesh-size was 0.5 inch. The cage placed at three different habitats, i.e. sandy overgrown with seagrass habitat, sandy covered with corals habitat, and sandy habitat. The study consisted of three treatments and three replications. Growth was observed by measuring the daily specific growth rate and absolute weight growth.
