Recent Internet technology development has enabled software to be delivered as a service, or well known as Software as a Service (SaaS). Through SaaS, customers no longer need to purchase software license, instead they only need to subscribe and access it via Internet connection. For service providers, SaaS adoption means they have to change their business focus from product-based into service-based, which requires some fundamental change in several aspects. This research based on qualitative method case study, evaluates benefits and risks of SaaS adoption by service providers and study how the providers implemented SaaS solution to their on-premise application. The object of this case study is an electronic business letter management software namely E-Office on Demand. Result of the study shows that service providers have successfully managed the risks of SaaS. However there are still some issues related to customization and integration in SaaS service. Complementary product and partnership between Independent Software Vendor and System Integrator give added value to the offered solution

One of the most important organizations’ goals is to generate benefits in order to be successful within a changing environment, and project management tools demonstrated efficacy to do so. But provided this usefulness, even when alignment is a very well accepted concept, many organizations are trying to align their portfolios only through the appliance of successful isolated project management operational methodologies and techniques, lacking two important issues: a common language and a common criteria to chose and structure the tools. Also, when they face continuous changes both external and internal, organizations find difficult to update all methodologies under a common criteria. This paper (a) explores and proposes a methodology that uses “benefit” as an axial management concept, (b) defines an integrated management criteria along the chain of organization’s achievements (strategic objectives, portfolio expected results, project scopes, program objectives), (c) uses benefit/cost analysis as a criteria source and categorization tools to generate a common language, making possible for organizations to integrate their ongoing methodologies to a unified management concept and to be highly flexible and highly standardized under constant demand of results and external and internal changes.

Towards a reflexive model for youth workshops In social research, as in social activism, words can never be ignored, or they take a savage revenge. But if they are attended to respectfully in all their complexity they provide a guiding thread through otherwise bewildering mazes. In this article we illustrate this general point of method by focusing especially on ‘engagement’. We unpick its ambiguities, detach its baggage, and return its complexities to where they belong, in social experience. We recover the potency it still has, discernible amongst the mass of propagandistic uses of the term. Over the last decade, we both have been involved in various aspects of ‘university community engagement’. As we will argue, this slogan and the research it points to are valuable. Thirty years ago no university in Australia would have used the term or made a systematic attempt to be ‘engaged’. Yet we must confess that we find it a somewhat vague term. ‘University engagement with the community ’...

This study aims an evaluation of snows of “Participation Banks” which operates in Turkey with regards to “Islamic Profit Theory”. “Harvey at al. Lineaity Test” is used to study. Monthly time series between December 2005 – June 2016 is used for the test. Firstly the test is performed on a part until February 2014 for a healthy explanation and it shows that the serie is linear. But, linearity is broken down when the next part is added, the domestic disturbances are observed at that time which influences participation banks. At this stage, It is shown that firms take care about Islamic sensibilities but it is possible that investors and depositors can be affected from the risk of general situation which has natural risks –even firms abstain from the risks of activities.

Cloud computing has become technological hyped these days by promising plenty of benefits. This hype has also affect government institutions where recently they begun to utilize cloud computing to fulfill their constituents needs. This paper aims to formulate framework for helping Indonesian government institution in choosing the appropriate cloud deployment model. The framework was developed by combining Benefits, Costs, Opportunities and Risks (BCOR) analysis, Entropy and Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS). The framework was validated by distributing questionnaires to the IT officers in government institutions. To demonstrate the applicability of the proposed framework, we conducted a case study in the municipality of Depok, a local government in Indonesia, where we found that private cloud as the most appropriate cloud deployment model to be implemented. In addition, our study also revealed that the factor considered the important by governmen...

The concept of motivation in the field of management is as old as human race and it is seen as major strategy in managing employees. Organizations thrive to adopt various strategies in satisfying their employees in order to retain them and be relevant in the industry where they operate. This study explores the relationship between motivation (salary, promotion, incentives, award, relationships, & benefits); employee ’ retention; and job satisfaction in the Nigerian banking industry. The survey method was adopted, and the primary data was obtained through the self-administered questionnaire. The valid three hundred and seventy six (376) respondents were analyzed by AMOS 21. Structural equation model (SEM) analysis results shows that salary and promotion have strong positive implications for employee retention. Similarly, incentives and benefits also have positive effects on job satisfaction. While unexpectedly, award and relationships have negative effects on job satisfaction. This s...

Key Information Summaries (KIS) were introduced throughout Scotland in 2013 so that anticipatory care plans written by general practitioners (GPs) could be routinely shared electronically and updated in real time, between GPs and providers of unscheduled and secondary care. We aimed to describe the current reach of anticipatory and palliative care, and to explore GPs' views on using KIS. We studied the primary care records of all patients who died in 2014 in 9 diverse Lothian practices. We identified if anticipatory or palliative care had been started, and if so how many weeks before death and which aspects of care had been documented. We interviewed 10 GPs to understand barriers and facilitating factors. Overall, 60% of patients were identified for a KIS, a median of 18 weeks before death. The numbers identified were highest for patients with cancer, with 75% identified compared with 66% of those dying with dementia/frailty and only 41% dying from organ failure. Patients were m...

The study investigates specific information regarding the challenges of globalization faced by Bangladesh and how it should prepare itself to coup with the challenges. The result suggest that Bangladesh is not in comfort in coping with the winds of globalization, as it has less access to and use of different opportunities living at the margin in the hierarchies of global order with low technological base, poor infrastructures and governance in most arenas. The study also suggest that Bangladesh needs to be engaged with all its development partners in a healthy and constructive process of interaction on stabilization, reform programme and other critical issues like national capacity building, competitiveness, political stability, cross border terrorism, arms and drug trafficking, climate change and environmental degradation. The policy implication is that various economic policy orientation and utilization of resources should be as such that they can supplement economic growth in a s...
