In this paper importance of CRT display for bar matrix alphanumeric Arabic characters has been underlined. Three possible layouts each using 10 segments (alongwith four dots) for Arabic alphanumeric characters are presented. The details of implementation alongwith waveforms for grid control as well as X-and Y-deflection signals have also been given.

This research reviews the fundamentals of physics from 1785 to 1923, and shows that light can’t be “one electromagnetic wave (Maxwell’s Theory)” or “one quantized electromagnetic wave (Einstein’s Theory)”. Scientists have thought that the... more

Phosphor persistence, video bandwidth, DC restoration and high-voltage regulation affect the appearance of images presented on cathode-ray tubes (CRTs), potentially resulting in differences between nominal and actual stimuli. We illustrate these effects by measuring physical parameters of horizontal and vertical static and counter-phase ickering gratings, and we illustrate problems for vision research by measuring contrast sensitivity to these gratings. We also measured the extent to which calibration protocols actually result in the monitor being calibrated over its entire area regardless of image size. The results of our physical measurements indicate substantial differences between gratings that nominally differ only as to orientation. Consistent with these differences, our psychophysical measurements indicate different sensitivities when the bars of the gratings are parallel or orthogonal to raster lines, regardless of the retinal orientation of the gratings. The results of our calibration check show that only a small region around the target area of calibration can be regarded as effectively linearized, and only if the size of the test image used during the check is similar to the size of the calibration patch. Overall, our results indicate potentially severe problems with the use of CRTs in vision research, and we discuss some published results that are likely to have been affected by these problems.

At the Dipartimento di Fisica, Università di Messina, a high energy x-ray radio-tomographc system driven by a 5 MeV electron linac, has been recently assembled. It has been tested and has already provided good results in inspecting heavy materials. In order to achieve good radiographic results, especially when inspecting heavy or thick materials, an enhancement of the x-ray dose at the sample position can be required and most of times this is associated to an enhancement of the grey level in the acquired image, according to a linear function. Nevertheless, in the hypothesis to work at the maximum magnetron power, a variation of the x-ray dose, obtained changing the electron beam current, is associated to a variation of the electron beam energy. As a consequence, the xray energy spectrum varies thus influencing the response of the radio-tomographic system. This does not allow a linear correspondence between the x-ray fluence (or the electron beam current) and the image grey level. By means of MCNP-4C2 simulations, the influence of electron beam energy variations on the produced bremsstrahlung spectrum has been studied and the theoretical results seems to be confirmed by the preliminary experimental ones.

Many Coating industries come under increasing pressure to reduce energy costs, speed production & comply with strict environmental standards; many are looking at the innovations of UV/EB technology for solution of the problems .Electron Oeam(EB) curing involves free radical polymerization, since activation energy in EB is low for chain propagations, high curing speeds can be achieved at ambient temperature. Nano-Composite EB curable coatings by incorporation of Nano-particles & pigments enhances the coating properties.

At Brookhaven National Laboratory, a high current Electron Beam Ion Source (EBIS) has been developed as part of a new preinjector that is under construction to replace the Tandem Van de Graaffs as the heavy ion preinjector for the RHIC and NASA experimental programs. This preinjector will produce milliampere-level currents of essentially any ion species, with q/A 1/6, in short
