The present work was carried out in 2008 with the objective of determining the alfalfa chain research needs in the state of Hidalgo. The productive chain approach was used and the following five steps were also carried out: i) Chain characterization, ii) Identification of critical factors, iii) Identification of research demands iv) Identification of research supply and v) Identification of research needs. Among the most outstanding results we have: the development of an alfalfa chain conceptual model integrated by 6 links and 25 segments; identification of 19 critical factors; identification of 17 demands including 12 regarding research, validation, and technology transfer and 5 regarding design and policy strategies; identification of 97 products supplied by research including 29% on varieties' generation and validation, 15% on plague and disease control, 11% on efficient water usage, and 2% on cut methods. In conclusion, 60% of the supply takes care of the identified demands...

Background: Several theorists maintain that exact number abilities rely on language‐relevant processes whereas approximate number calls on visuo‐spatial skills. We chose two genetic disorders, Williams syndrome and Down's syndrome, which differ in their relative abilities in verbal versus spatial skills, to examine this hypothesis. Five experiments assessed number skills in these two genetic syndromes and in their mental age (MA) and chronological age (CA) matched controls. Methods: Experiment 1 used a preferential looking paradigm with infants and toddlers to measure sensitivity to changes in numerosity. Experiment 2 measured reaction times in older children and adults in a numerosity comparison task with dots in a random pattern. Experiment 3 comprised a number battery that measured various forms of counting and simple arithmetic. Results: The WS infants displayed a level of performance equal to that of their CA‐controls, whereas the DS infants failed to reach even the level ...

The present study was aimed at investigating the writing parameters of writer's cramp patients and control subjects during handwriting of a test sentence in the absence of visual control. Eight right-handed patients with writer's cramp and eight healthy volunteers as age-matched control subjects participated in the study. The experimental task consisted in writing a test sentence repeatedly for fifty times on a pressure-sensitive digital board. The subject did not have visual control on his handwriting. The writing performance was stored on a PC and analyzed off-line. During handwriting all patients developed a typical dystonic limb posture and reported an increase in muscular tension along the experimental session. The patients were significantly slower than the controls, with lower mean vertical pressure of the pen tip on the paper and they could not reach the endmost letter of the sentence in the given time window. No other handwriting parameter differences were found bet...

Abstract: One of the most important phenomenons in some systems is chaos; so control chaotic systems is difficult and shows the abilities of control methods. In this paper, first known chaotic systems, Lorenz equations, was selected as a chaotic system. One of the best control methods that would be used for stabilization this system, was Backstepping. In this paper this method is improved to Generalized Backstepping Method (GBM). This method is called GBM because of its similarity to Backstepping and more applications in systems than it; Backstepping method is used only to strictly feedback systems but GBM expand this class. For this new method, expose a new theorem and its proof and for showing its abilities, control Lorenz equations in two participate sections; stabilization and tracking reference input. Simulations and the class of systems can be controlled by GBM show that new method has not only more abilities to receive best results than previous method but also apply to contr...
