Population: 1 million (About the size of San Jose, California)
Founded: Between 15,000 B.C.

Khasha is a city state that exists on the planet Nlia, which exists in my AU Star Trek ‘New Start’ verse.

THE GOLDEN SANDS REGION
The Golden Sands completely covers a large part of the Western Continent
It is so named because of the bright golden color of its sands.

In general, the climate is extremely hot and arid.
Areas along the coastline receive cool, humid breezes
Precipitation is scarce and the region receives only about three inches of rain annually.
Temperatures routinely top 100ºF and can reach 120
During the nights it is very cold.

The terrain varies from sand dunes, gravel plains, hills, valleys, pateaus, rock formations and shrublands.
The terrain is more rugged in the north and west.
The southern regions are more flat.

Although a desert, there are many oases, springs and shallow lake beds that fill during the brief rainy season.
There are many areas with grassland, shrubland, cacti and flowers.
At oases and other places were water collects there are trees.
There are heavier concentrations of plantlife and trees along the coasts

The Golden Sands Region is where Nlian civilization began and boasts the continent’s largest cities.
There are also many nomadic tribes that live much as their ancestors did thousands of years ago.

Although primary a desert, there is extensive farming.
The fragile ecosystem is maintained through the a strictly managed system of irrigation, crop rotation and recycling.

KHASHA
Khasha is located in the southeastern region of the Golden Sands.
It's located east of Famas, northwest of Lareea and west of Oslamth.

It' is located by several oasis and is a nexus of several major trade routes.
Its known for its great towers, spires and massive gates.

Khasha is is especially famous for its iron and steel and has earned it the title The City of Steel
Ironworking was invented here thousands of years ago.
Ever since then the city has been home to Nlia’s finest metal workers.
Khasha's forges and foundries have no equal and Khasha Steel is to Nlia what Damascus and Toledo Steel is to Earth.

Khasha is one of the ten largest cities on Nlia and a major industrial center.
In addition to steel production, the city focuses heavily on are manufacturing and technology.

Khasha has very close ties with Lareea, and there are constant collaborations with Khasha's metalsmith and Lareea's goldsmiths.
Khasha also has strong ties with Famas

Like all Nlian citues Khasha is a blend of modern and ancient.
There are many building that are millenia old.
Caravans still regularly come though.
Outside of the main city are numerous farming settlements and as well as tribes of nomads
