Providing ecosystem planning and restoration services to support a sustainable environment
About us
EPR was created in 2012 to be a premier environmental planning and ecosystem restoration company. Our desire is to provide environmental services with the highest quality products, and to improve the science and application of stream and wetland restoration through innovative projects and applied research. ECOSYSTEM RESTORATION EPR staff has designed projects throughout the eastern United States and in the emerging market of the Gulf Coast Region that represent a wide range of conditions and challenges. Our experience is unmatched and includes hundreds of stream and wetland restoration projects, design and construction, development of regional curves and reference reach data sets, and monitoring of past projects to continually advance the science. We tailor innovative solutions to meet our client’s goals and objectives, within the real-world constraints that are a part of every project. ENVIRONMENTAL PLANNING Our environmental planning services assist federal, state, municipal organizations, and private clients with their regulatory compliance needs. We have extensive experience with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and related state regulations. Our staff has expertise in planning, environmental impact assessments, and permitting. We have worked with cities, states, and federal agencies to help all interested parties participate in the planning process. We have prepared all types of environmental documents (e.g., Environmental Impact Statements, Environmental Assessments, and Categorical Exclusions) for both federal and state clients.

- The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service announced a proposal to protect the monarch butterfly as a threatened species under the Endangered Species Act (ESA), accompanied by species-specific protections under section 4(d) of the ESA and proposed critical habitat designation along the California coast. This butterfly faces significant threats, including: - Loss of milkweed host plants and nectar sources - Degradation of overwintering habitats - Insecticide exposure The 4(d) rule aims to balance conservation and flexibility by allowing activities like habitat restoration while restricting harmful actions. Public comments on this proposal are open until March 12, 2025. At EPR, we have extensive experience navigating ESA-related regulations and incorporating species-specific protections into project planning and design. If you have questions about how this proposal could affect your projects - or need guidance on mitigation strategies, compliance planning, or habitat restoration - don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here to help you achieve your goals while contributing to sustainable solutions. Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/g97CpgZG #Pollinators #EnvironmentalRestoration #MonarchButterfly
Endangered Species Act protection for monarch butterfly | U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service fws.gov - The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) held a field training near Denver, CO to educate EPA and U.S. Corps of Engineers regional staff on the final streamflow duration assessment methods (SDAMs) for the Arid West, Western Mountains, and Great Plains. As part of EPR’s continued support for this initiative, Senior Environmental Scientist Amy James from our Raleigh office participated as an instructor. SDAMs use a set of field and GIS indicators to determine the likelihood of whether a stream is perennial, intermittent, or ephemeral in the absence of long-term flow data, aiding resource agencies with management and permitting decisions. Since 2017, EPR and its partners have been actively involved in the development of regional SDAMs and we continue to support the development of the final SDAMs for the Northeast and Southeast, which should be released in early 2025. EPR’s Senior Environmental Scientist and Forester, Tom Barrett, has been working closely with The Nature Conservancy to assess and design a plan that will improve fish passage and hydrological connection on a 928-acre site along the Roanoke River in Northampton County, NC. To meet these goals, EPR is proposing to remove culverts and levees, fill in an extensive ditch network, and reconnect abandoned natural channels with the river. This work will improve the aquatic habitat for baitfish species such as shad and river herring and ultimately the striped bass.
