- Project Spotlight | RO-9 Bluestone Creek (Tate) Mitigation Site Today, we are featuring one of our stream and wetland restoration sites in Virginia! The RO-9 Bluestone Creek (Tate) Mitigation Site in Charlotte County, VA was developed in partnership with The Nature Conservancy. The project provides a combination of stream restoration, wetland restoration, buffer re-establishment, and livestock exclusion along approximately 6,000 LF of Tanyard Branch and its unnamed tributary. Tanyard Branch flows directly into Bluestone Creek, which provides habitat to the Whitemouth shiner (Notropis alborus), classified as threatened in Virginia. Construction was completed in early 2024 and included new channel alignments with gravely riffles, deep and shallow pools, and the introduction of large woody debris to provide potential habitat for the Whitemouth shiner and other aquatic species. Additionally, over 25 acres of native vegetation planting within the site will provide terrestrial habitat for wildlife. At the end of its ten-year monitoring period, this site is expected to provide 10,231 stream credits and 8.66 non-tidal wetland credits.#streamrestoration #mitigationbanking #ecologicalrestoration #habitatbuilding #viriginia #charlottecounty #wildlandsengineering

🌱 Ecological & Water Quality Improvement Project in the Cape Fear River Basin! 🌊 The Loflin Dairy Conservation Mitigation Easement spans 16.95 acres in Randolph County, NC and aims to enhance the ecological health and water quality of the region. In partnership with Wildlands Engineering, Inc., our project focuses on restoring the riparian area to establish a functional corridor that will: ✅ Decrease nutrient levels ✅ Reduce sediment input ✅ Lower water temperature ✅ Promote diffuse-flow discharge These efforts are crucial for ensuring the long-term sustainability of the Cape Fear River Basin's ecosystem.
