Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker (also known as Batman of the Future: Return of the Joker outside of the United States, The Return of the Joker, Batman Beyond: The Movie or The Batman Beyond Movie in the working title) is a 2000 American direct-to-video animated superhero mystery film produced by Warner Bros. Animation and distributed by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. It is the third film in the DC Animated Universe and is based on the animated series Batman Beyond while also serving as a continuation of and resolving plot points from The New Batman Adventures. Return of the Joker features the DC Comics superheroes Bruce Wayne (Kevin Conroy) and Terry McGinnis (Will Friedle), as they try and unravel the mysterious return of the former's archenemy, the Joker (Mark Hamill). Following the Columbine High School massacre, the film received heavy edits that delayed its release from a Halloween 2000 to December 12, 2000. An uncut version was subsequently released on DVD in 2002, to generally positive reviews. The film takes place during the third and final season of Batman Beyond. (en)
Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker (Batman del futuro: El Regreso del Joker en España y Batman del futuro: El Regreso del Guasón en Hispanoamérica) es una película animada directa a video protagonizada por el superhéroe de cómic Batman y su archienemigo, el Joker. Esta película se sitúa dentro del universo de la serie animada Batman del futuro, donde Bruce Wayne se ha retirado y le ha entregado la responsabilidad de Batman a un muchacho llamado Terry McGinnis. Como en la serie animada Batman Beyond, Will Friedle y Kevin Conroy hacen las voces de Terry McGinnis y Bruce Wayne, respectivamente. Mark Hamill, quien hizo la voz del Joker en Batman: La serie animada, regresa para hacer la voz del Joker en esta película. Antes de su lanzamiento esta película fue editada, cortando alrededor de cuatro minutos a través de la remoción de escenas de violencia extrema y de algunos diálogos, como resultado de la masacre del instituto Columbine. La versión original fue luego lanzada en DVD, recibiendo una clasificación PG-13 de la MPAA por violencia. Esta clasificación no es muy común dentro de las películas animadas americanas. Batman of the Future - Il ritorno del Joker (Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker) è un film d'animazione direct-to-video statunitense del 2000 diretto da Curt Geda. Ambientato nel DC Animated Universe, il film è basato sulla serie animata Batman of the Future (1999-2001), nella quale un anziano Bruce Wayne cede il mantello di Batman al giovane Terry McGinnis. La pellicola è stata scritta da Paul Dini, Glen Murakami e Bruce Timm, già creatori della serie animata e include al doppiaggio Kevin Conroy (nei panni di Bruce), Will Friedle (come Terry) e Mark Hamill (come Joker). In questo film Terry continua a proteggere la città vestendo i panni di Batman aiutato da Bruce Wayne, ma dovrà presto fare i conti con il ritorno del Joker a Gotham City. Distribuito negli Stati Uniti il 12 dicembre 2000, alcune scene di violenza presenti vennero ridisegnate per smorzare il tono della pellicola, come la morte del Joker, morto qui per una scarica elettrica, mentre nella successiva edizione in DVD, nella versione originale, con un colpo di pistola sparato da Robin. In Italia è arrivata in TV la versione originale della pellicola. Ha ricevuto un rating PG-13 dalla Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) per l'eccessiva violenza: si tratta del primo film animato di Batman Warner Bros.
