De Communistische Partij van Nederland (CPN) was een Nederlandse politieke partij die in 1909 onder de naam Sociaal-Democratische Partij (SDP) werd opgericht als afsplitsing van de SDAP, en in 1990 opging in GroenLinks. Ongeveer een jaar na de fusie werd de partijorganisatie – toentertijd de oudste van Nederland – officieel opgeheven. De partij vertegenwoordigde de hoofdstroom van het communisme (marxisme-leninisme en tot 1956 stalinisme) binnen het Nederlandse politieke bestel. De CPN zag de onderdrukking van de arbeidersklasse als een gevolg van het kapitalisme. Ze streefde naar afschaffing van het koningschap ten gunste van een republiek, gelijke rechten voor vrouwen en mannen, zeer ingrijpende wetgeving op het gebied van arbeid en tal van andere sociale veranderingen. Fundado em 1909, como Partido Social-Democrata, o partido alinhou-se com o comunismo após a Revolução de Outubro de 1917, em que se afirmou defensor dos ideais de Lenine e Karl Marx, adoptando o nome de Partido Comunista e seguindo uma linha comunista e marxista-leninista. O CPN foi um partido com relativa influência eleitoral, elegendo, por diversas vezes, deputados para o parlamento, e, a partir da década de 1980, o partido afastou-se do marxismo-leninismo, entrando em coligações eleitorais com outros partidos de esquerda.
