- أونج تنغ تشيونغ (بالإنجليزية: Ong Teng Cheong) (و. 1936 – 2002 م) هو مهندس معماري، وسياسي من سنغافورة .تولى منصب رئيس سنغافورة (1993-09-01–1999-08-31)، ورؤساء وزراء سنغافورة (1985-01-02–1993-09-01). كان أونغ أول رئيس لسنغافورة يُنتخب بالتصويت الشعبي وأدى اليمين الدستورية بصفة رئيس في 1 سبتمبر 1993 وأُطلق عليه السنغافوريون اسم رئيس الشعب. قرر أونغ ألا يترشح لولاية رئاسية ثانية عام 1999 ويرجع ذلك جزئيًا إلى وفاة زوجته. بكونه عضوًا في حزب العمل الشعبي، شغل أونغ منصب نائب رئيس الوزراء، وكان رابع شخص يتولى هذا المنصب، من 2 يناير 1985 حتى 1 سبتمبر 1993 وذلك حين تنحى إس. راجاراتنام، نائب رئيس الوزراء، عن المنصب. شارك أونغ منصب نائب رئيس الوزراء مع رئيس الوزراء السابق غو تشوك تونغ. كان أونغ قائدًا لحزب العمل الشعبي من 5 يناير 1981 إلى 1 سبتمبر 1993. كان وزيرًا للقوى العاملة من 1981 إلى 1983 ووزيرًا لتكنولوجيا المعلومات والاتصالات والفنون من عام 1978 إلى 1981، وذلك قبل استقالته من أجل المشاركة في الانتخابات الرئاسية السنغافورية لعام 1993 التي فاز بها. - Ong Teng Cheong GCMG (Chinese: 王鼎昌; pinyin: Wáng Dǐngchāng; 22 January 1936 – 8 February 2002) was a Singaporean politician who served as the fifth president of Singapore between 1993 and 1999. He was also the first elected president in Singapore's history. A former member of the governing People's Action Party (PAP) and Ong served as Chairman of the People's Action Party between 1981 and 1993, after Toh Chin Chye stepped down from the position. He was the Member of Parliament (MP) for Kim Keat SMC between 1972 and 1991, and Toa Payoh GRC between 1991 and 1993. He also served as Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts between 1978 and 1981, Minister for Manpower between 1981 and 1983, and Deputy Prime Minister between 1985 and 1993. Ong resigned from the PAP and his political positions and contested in the 1993 presidential election as an independent candidate and won. He was sworn on 1 September 1993 as the fifth president of Singapore. He decided not to run for a second term as president in 1999 partially due to the death of his wife. Ong died in his sleep from lymphoma at the Singapore General Hospital on 8 February 2002, at the age of 66. (en)

Dilahirkan pada tahun 1936 di Singapura, dia memasuki alam persekolahan agak terlambat akibat pendudukan Jepang di Singapura. Setelah menamatkan pendidikan menengah, dia melanjutkan pelajarannya di Universitas Adelaide, di mana dia meraih gelar Sarjana Muda dalam bidang sosial pada tahun 1961.
