Els burghers portuguesos són un grup ètnic de Sri Lanka, que descendeixen de portuguesos i singalesos. Són un grup humà catòlic que parlen un idioma crioll amb bases portugueses i del tàmil i el singalès. Actualment l'idioma més comú és l'anglès (com a llengua principal o materna) i el tàmil (segona llengua apresa a l'escola). Malgrat que els burghers portuguesos s'han mesclat amb els burghers neerlandesos es consideren dos grups ètnics diferents. (ca)
The Portuguese Burghers are an ethnic group in Sri Lanka, of mixed Portuguese and Sri Lankan descent. They are largely Roman Catholic and some still speak the Sri Lanka Indo-Portuguese language, a creole based on Portuguese mixed with Sinhalese. In modern times, English has become the common language while Sinhalese is taught in school as a second language. Portuguese Burghers sometimes mixed with but are to be distinguished from other Burgher people, such as Dutch Burghers. (en)
