후천년설(postmillennialism)이란 기독교 신학가운데 종말론에서 다루는 분야이다. 요한 계시록 20장의 해석을 후천년주의로 해석한다. 즉 그 본문을 천년왕국 후에 예수 그리스도가 다시 재림한다고 본다. 후천년설은 전천년설과는 대조적으로 다르며 무천년설과도 다소 다르다.교회의 설립 혹은 로마 제국 국교회를 통해 천년왕국이 이미 시작되었다 보고, 교회의 전성기 및 세계 평화가 완전히 이루어졌을 때 예수의 재림이 있을 것이라고 믿는다.

After an extensive era of such conditions Jesus Christ will return visibly, bodily, and gloriously, to end history with the general resurrection and the final judgment after which the eternal order follows. Postmillennialism was a dominant theological belief among American Protestants who promoted reform movements in the 1850s abolitionism and the Social Gospel. Postmillennialism has become one of the key tenets of a movement known as Christian Reconstructionism.
