Special Olympics (Juegos Olímpicos Especiales) es una organización deportiva internacional que organiza eventos deportivos con personas con discapacidad intelectual teniendo como meta desarrollar la confianza en sí mismas y sus habilidades sociales mediante el entrenamiento y la competición deportiva. Entre otras actividades, organiza las Olimpiadas Especiales cada cuatro años a beneficio de niños necesitados.

Der deutsche Bundesverband (Special Olympics Deutschland, SOD) wurde 1991 gegründet. Darüber hinaus gibt es auf Ebene der Bundesländer derzeit 14 Landesverbände. Als Zwischenebene fungiert für Deutschland der Kontinentalverband Special Olympics Europa-Eurasien (SOEE). Vorsitzender des Dachverbands Special Olympics International (SOI) ist Timothy Shriver, der Sohn von Eunice Kennedy-Shriver.
