CONVOY SC 62 Departed Sydney, C.B. on Dec. 27-1941, dispersed Jan. 12-1942.
Arnold Hague's "The Allied Convoy System" gives 28 ships in this convoy.

Transcribed from several original documents received from Tony Cooper (Advance Sailing Telegram) - His source: Public Records Office, Kew. The station numbers, cargoes for the tankers and names of escorts have been extracted from documents recived from Don Kindell, based on the late Arnold Hague's database - see his listing for SC 62 at ships in all SC convoys. Further details have been added with the help of: "Convoy Rescue Ships 1940-1945", Arnold Hague "Axis Submarine Successes of World War Two", Jürgen Rohwer"The World's Merchant Fleets 1939", R. W. Jordan "Lloyd's War Losses", Vol. II. Crossed out ships did not sail, underlined returned, except those that are linked, which will automatically be underlined. Additionally, the Rescue Vessel Bury - See Notes below.*According to A. Hague, Baron Graham arrived Reykjavik leaking (again, see his listing for SC 62 at ships in all SC convoys). **This tanker is spelt Melpomene in the Advance Sailing Telegram, A. Hague lists her as Melpomone.

Commodore was in Merchant Royal.

The Rescue Vessel Bury was also with this convoy for a while. She was on her 1st voyage as such, having started this voyage from Clyde on Dec. 31-1941 with the westbound Convoy ON 52, to Iceland Jan. 7-1942, then joined Convoy SC 62 from Iceland on Jan. 9-1942 till dispersed on the 12th, returning to Clyde independently with arrival there on Jan. 14.

Baron Erskine, on a voyage from Tampa (left Dec. 9-1941) for Loch Ewe and Garston with a cargo of rock and super phosphates, had parted company with the convoy on Jan. 1-1942 due to bad coal (last reported Jan. 2), and was torpedoed and sunk on Jan. 6 by U-701. She had a crew of 33 and 7 gunners, all of whom perished. (See also the external link provided below).

The convoy arrived rendezvous on Jan. 8-1942.
