This paper showed that CCR7-deficient DCs fail to migrate to normal lymph nodes on a host background that has CCR7+ lymphocytes. This work was crucial in establishing the important role of CCR7 in directly mediating DC migration to lymph nodes, because other studies that were carried out on the CCR7-deficient background examined DC migration to abnormal lymph nodes that contained few lymphocytes.
