As already indicated elsewhere (vide ante, c. ix.), a recovery was only, even if real and adverse, effective as against the party — the recoveree and his heirs and legal representatives — that is, those "privy" to him in estate. - 1915, William Blackstone, William Carey Jones, Commentaries on the Laws of England - Volume 1, page 1202:
In all recoveries it is necessary that the recoveree, or tenant to the præcipe, as he is usually called, be actually seised of the freehold, else the recovery is void. - 2007, Francis Williams Sanders, John Warner, An Essay on Uses and Trusts, and on the Nature and Operation of Conveyances at Common Law, page 219:
For it was thought, that upon suffering the recovery or levying the fine, the use ressulted to the recoveree or conuzor, which resulting use the statute immediately executed: so that the use being once vested and executed by the statute, it could not be divested by any subsequent declaration.

The most succinct way to think about recovery coaches is that they are life coaches for persons with substance use disorders. As life coaches, they focus not only on the disorder but first and foremost on the broad components of the recoveree's life: health, housing, education, employment, relationships, and more. Early on, the coach engages with the recoveree in what is called “motivational interviewing”—basically open-ended conversation about what the recoveree desires in life.
