The analysis focused on seven examples found in the areas of Brescia, Brescello and Turin, in comparison with other milestones of the Cisalpine region. This analysis leads to the hypothesis that in late antiquity the jurisdiction of road maintenance transferred from the imperial government to local administrations. This local control strengthens the idea that, within their own territories (ager), the cities were placing milestones also on secondary roads, directed to smaller towns and settlements in the countryside.

The most important changes come from the recent laws that, among other important innovations, establish for the first time the openness \u201cby default\u201d of the PA web site contents. Moreover, transparency and openness of sites will become parameters to be considered when evaluating the performances of the employees responsible for them. Probably, the actual application of the laws will be anything but easy: preliminary work will be required, like filtering data that cannot be published to protect copyright or privacy rights of third parties. This paper focuses on data produced or managed by the agencies for Cultural Heritage with emphasis on archaeology: the main limits on opening data and contents will be discussed

For this reason, several attempts have been performed in recent years to develop a geographical information system (GIS) tailored for archaeological data. However, despite the increasing use of information technologies in the archaeological domain, the actual situation is that any agency or research group independently develops its own local database and management application that is isolated from the others. Conversely, the sharing of information and the cooperation between different archaeological agencies or research groups can be particularly useful to support the interpretation process by using data discovered in similar situations with respect to spatio-temporal or thematic aspects. In the geographical domain, the INSPIRE initiative of the European Union tries to support the development of a spatial data infrastructure (SDI) through which several organizations, such as public bodies or private companies, with overlapping goals can share data, resources, tools, and competencies in an effective way.

regulations and technologies that contributed to the process of data opening in the domain of Cultural Heritage. An
overview on what is happening in the (rest of) the world is proposed, with reference to some of the most important
archaeological open-data projects. After a brief introduction about Italian laws concerning data related to Cultural
Heritage, the main projects that have been presented at previous ArcheoFOSS editions are discussed.

In 2014 and 2016, changes were introduced to article 108 of that same Legislative Decree: these, under certain conditions, make it easier to carry out such activities when they are not done for profit. This paper explains in particular the changes recently introduced by the Italian Law 124/2017.

The main objective of the two projects is collecting information about the archaeological findings regarding the two Italian urban centres with the aim to support a complete archaeological analysis and allow for easy data reuse. The purpose of this research is twofold: (i) archaeological studies, aimed to collect data and contents, and (ii) information systems applied to cultural heritage, aimed to organize, use and preserve the data on the basis of the innovations related to methodologies, technologies and standards. In this regard, the first step in SITAVR project was to create a domain model of archaeological data, by applying standard methodology for producing an abstract conceptual schema. Next steps were the definition of web services and a common format for data ...

In Italy, many important Archaeological Agencies, like the one in Rome, have started several projects in order to model, integrate and store, on the one side, and to publish, give access and query ability, on the other side, to the huge amount of archaeological data available in all Italian towns. In this paper we briefly describe the experience in Verona. In particular, some details about the activities currently running are presented: (i) the conceptual data modelling performed by applying the GeoUML methodology; (ii) the integration of attribute domains (vocabulary) and (iii) the modelling of time in archaeological data.
