This paper deals with the relation between God and the secular legal systems of Western liberal democracies. It provides a normative argument for the compatibility of God and secular legal reasoning. In our age, in which believing in God is no longer socially axiomatic and the right to religious freedom protects all kinds of theistic and non-theistic religious beliefs, creeds, and first philosophies, it seems contrary to religious neutrality for secular legal systems to single out God. This paper instead argues that, although God and religion are inextricably intertwined, they affect the legal system in different ways because they are ontologically different. God cannot be reduced to a mere component of theistic religion. This paper argues that a proper understanding of secularization might call for keeping God outside the legal system but not for driving God out of the public sphere of democratic societies. Secular legal systems are not atheist legal systems. Secular legal systems are legal systems 'without religion' but not 'without God.' Secularization implies some degree of minimal recognition of God as a metalegal concept. The specific degree of recognition of God appropriate for any given political community depends on its cultural and communitarian identity and should be subject to the rules of democratic procedures and majorities. This is the metalegal God.

What is religious language? Well, this might seem like a strange question to ask however it is one of grave importance. Religious language is not something that is merely discussed in theology or philosophy classrooms; it is something we engage with and use on a daily basis. It is as issue of perennial significance and it is therefore, unfair to relegate its significance to a particular era in history. Why this sudden interest in religious language? Look around! Our world is plagued by numerous problems, and a number of these have religious undertones. Understanding the meaning of religious language will help us understand how and why issues take on religious significance. This article is an attempt at providing a broad introduction to the concept of Religious Language as well as pointing to its significance and relevance today.

This article consists of an analysis of the mathematical content in the poem" The Golem" written by the Argentinean author Jorge Luis Borges, in 1958. Our analysis takes in consideration the deep reflections on Statistics found on the book: Statistical Rethinking (2020) written by Richard McElreath. We found relevant similitudes between the mathematical content of Borges' poem, and the innovative approach to Statistics, and in particular the explanations of Bayesian statistics, as they are presented on the book authored by McElreath.

Abstract
To what extent can a natural theology be derived from general revelation? Discuss the implications of your answer for the fate of the ‘unevangelised’.
This essay answers the question of what we can know about God through general revelation, and in particular what that means for those people who have not had the opportunity to ever hear the gospel message. The essay begins by looking at the different knowledge that a person can attain about God through general revelation, but before delving into the different arguments it starts by outlining a case against the argument that there is no general revelation of God. From this the essay delves into what can be known about God through what is revealed in history, what can be known by considering the origins of the universe, what knowledge of God can be seen by the evidence of intelligent design of the world, and also what our own moral conscience tells us about God. The essay argues that although significant knowledge about God may be determined through His general revelation, the knowledge of who He is or a more intimate knowledge of Him cannot be attained apart from special revelation. It shows how without the special revelation of God through Jesus, salvation is not possible, then it cites various different Biblical examples to show how, regardless of whether people have been “evangelised” or not, they are still able to receive God’s special revelation that leads unto salvation. The conclusion of the essay is that general revelation is what gives a person faith to believe that God exists, and therefore pursue Him further, but that a special revelation of Jesus is needed through scriptures, visions, messengers, angels etc., for them to be saved.

This is a short essay on the ongoing Euthyphro Question regarding morality.

The pseudonymous author B.C. Johnson penned a short paper arguing against the existence of God that, while often cited by atheist debaters, is necessarily limited since it attempts to tackle over a dozen different pro-theist objections. In this short paper I try to bolster just one of Johnson's arguments to show that his version of God indeed cannot exist, but that it is an incorrect description of the Christian deity as accepted by most modern religious and theological scholars.

The medieval Indian period witnessed the emergence of bhakti saints and widespread impact of the Sufis in the creation of a mystical environment. They disseminated the idea of achieving mysticism through the creation of an intimate relationship with god. This paper is aimed to reveal that how the idea of a personal form of god can be seen present in the poetry of certain Bhakti and Sufi saints of medieval India by analyzing their selected compositions. This analysis will lead to the identification of a major point of convergence in the philosophy of the Bhakti and Sufi saint-poets and also determines a mutual influence on each other.

The aim of this dissertation is to draw a connection between romantic love and love for God, through the eyes of three philosophers, Miguel De Unamuno, Erich Fromm and Vladimir Solovyov. Each thinker’s theory will be explained and briefly evaluated. The two typologies of loves will be compared as ways of overcoming our sense of separateness and as attempts to experience unity. The nature, motives and consequences of both types of loves will be examined and then compared. Finally, an attempt will be made to see whether what a believer experiences in his or her love for God, is similar to what any human being can experience through romantic love.

Within a literary ontology, YHWH in the Hebrew Bible is technically also a fictional entity or object. In Hebrew Bible scholarship, a variety of philosophical issues surrounding fiction have received sustained and in-depth attention. However, the mainstream research on these matters tends to focus on the philosophical foundations of or backgrounds to a particular literary theory, rather than on metaphysical puzzles as encountered in the philosophy of fiction proper. To fill this gap, the present article seeks to provide a meta-theoretical overview of the main contemporary philosophical perspectives on the metaphysics of fictional objects. Three views (and their sub-currents) are discussed, namely possibilism, (neo-)Meinongianism and (literary) creationism. Each view’s theory is introduced and critically appropriated with reference to what is implied to be an answer to the question of what exactly the biblical character YHWH can meaningfully be said to be in the context of the metaphysics of fictional objects. In this way, the present study also goes beyond the traditional concern with the nature of God in Old Testament theology.

This is an article in the philosophy of happiness — but one with an untypical focus. It clarifies the claim of the phenomenologist Dietrich von Hildebrand that (H) high happiness comes especially from loving others, and compares it with the apparently rival Aristotelian claim that (A) high happiness comes especially from contemplating God. The former claim is understood to be about felt love (love defined as an emotional rather than volitional state). Both claims are understood to be about felt happiness (happiness defined as an emotional state rather than a state of objective flourishing). The article argues that, in fact, the two claims are not rival but mutually consistent, since the beloved person can be God, and the contemplation can be a loving one. Both claims are also consistent with scientific evidence, although it is tangential and tentative. Moreover, both claims are plausible, since both are backed up by intuitive explanations of why they should be regarded as true. However, both are in need of a further philosophical or scientific research that could confirm them even more.

In this article the author discusses Dennis F. Polis’ defense of the compatibility of biological evolution and Thomistic metaphysics. Some of Polis’ methodological and metaphysical arguments are examined and it is explained why they are unfaithful to the Thomistic tradition of metaphysics. There is a discussion of why metaphysics can, within certain parameters, critique the science of evolutionary biology, as well as a discussion of the role of metaphysics in the hierarchy of the sciences. The relationship between biological species to the notion of species in philosophy, including related metaphysical topics, such as essences and Divine ideas in God, is discussed. It is determined that Polis’ view suffers from a kind of relativism and nominalism that is incompatible with the moderate realism of Aquinas. Some of Aquinas’ key existential insights in metaphysics are discussed in this context as well. In addition to being corrective, this essay helps point the way to a better defense of the compatibility of biological evolution and Thomistic metaphysics.

Given the abundance and prominence of infinities in Spinoza’s edifice, the limited amount of literature on the topic might surprise. But in fact,
commentators have restricted themselves mostly to scattered remarks and partial analyses. In this chapter, I will review the most prominent existing views on infinity. By disproving them, I will argue that
(absolute) infinity must be understood as a simple, fully determined quantity, with a complicated relation to perfection (a term that I will elaborate on later), embodying total creative ontological priority. I will close with some pressing question.
