Sin dalle prime pagine il testo di Jacob Levi Moreno è molto entusiasmante. Innanzitutto ritengo estremamente riduttivo parlare della sua teoria in termini di Psicodramma Classico (come è attualmente definita); sarebbe come definire la... more

The COVID-19 pandemic restrictions in 2020 included the cancellation of live music events in large numbers, leaving a majority of music industry workersnot only musicians, but also sound and light technicians, roadies, managers, and promoters-at least temporarily out of work. The situation was characterised by general uncertainty, both with regard to future restrictions or their easing, and with regard to the willingness of the Hungarian government to lend a hand to the industry and its workers. The question of state support and reliance on it was thus brought into sharp focus-the fate of the music industry and industry actors taking a stance received significant media attention, and online discussions involving organisers and concert or festival promoters abounded, especially during the first two 'lockdown' months. Our paper explores the collective images, perceptions, and attitudes of cultural workers working in the Hungarian music industries related to their own work, their creative autonomy, and the relations of dependence in the industry through an analysis of six sociodrama groups undertaken with the participation of music industry workers before and during the pandemic. We explored, first, how workers view the role of the state and the market in their work, and the playing field in which they are situated, and whether and how the pandemic crisis has affected this. Second, what kinds of potential strategies of coping and surviving the workers identify in light of the crisis situation.

This paper describes a group work training offered in 2011 for 60 highly diverse staffers to a GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness of and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) educational grant P334A990515 for the San Jose, CA area. Multiethnic, multi-aged trainees with varying educational levels and backgrounds were brought together as a cohort for the first time for training purposes. In 4 full days of hands-on, active engagement training, they were instructed in application of psychodrama and sociometry techniques to engage poor and minority students and their families in middle school, high school and college retention. Uses of psychodrama and sociodrama to support education in diverse communities are reviewed and explained. Advantages of using experiential learning and action methods to enhance learning, engage low performing students, and build social cohesion are discussed.

In this paper, the emergence of conditions for Sociometrics as a scientific discipline in the beginning of the 20th century, a period during which a local sociology was born in the USA, and its development after the outbreak of the Second World War is discussed. Sociometrics was begun to be studied and read in various languages as a means to provide solutions to social problems in the USA around the 1950s, parallel with the nascent impression of USA domination throughout the world. The integration of immigrants and the problems in the business world constitute the interest fields of Sociometrics. The relationships of workers, students and prisoners etc. between individuals and between groups became the primary interests of Sociometrics. Jacob Levy, the founder of this discipline, and his colleagues developed techniques and methods in order to estimate social, cultural and psychological dynamics in these types of relationships. The theory of Sociometrics and its topics mirror the tendencies of early American sociology.

The treatment of posttraumatic stress disorder and other trauma-related maladies requires
psychotherapists to be equipped with a dependable clinical map that can guide them
through the difficulties of trauma therapy. The Therapeutic Spiral Model—a clinically
sophisticated and research-supported adaptation of classical psychodrama that has been
used in over 30 countries—comes equipped with a comprehensive clinical map called the
Trauma Survivor’s Inner Role Atom (TSIRA), which emphasizes safety, containment, and
strengths. The Trauma Survivor’s Inner Role Atom provides a guide to intrapsychic structural
change conceptualized in the simplicity of role theory while drawing from continued
developments in neuroscience research. It offers a triune map beginning with prescriptive
roles to build strengths, connection, accurate observation, containment, and safety. The
trauma roles offered by the model’s intrapsychic trauma triangle are explored only after the
prescriptive roles have been established, with the clinical functions of each demonstrated.
And finally, the transformative roles—the internal manifestation of posttraumatic growth—
emerge and are integrated as a completion of the clinical map’s three spirals. The
implementation of this inner role atom as a clinical map prevents retraumatization while
providing emotional regulation to protagonists and the group, keeping them within their
window of tolerance.

This article continues the dialogue started by Skolnik 2018
about the synergistic union of social work and psychodrama
group approaches. The theoretical and clinical alignment of
psychodrama and sociometry with social work with groups will
be described. A practice illustration from Mirmont Treatment
Center will be presented and discussed to explore some of the
dynamics of psychodrama and, in particular, the therapeutic
value of surplus reality. Surplus reality is a creative tool used to
provide a therapeutic corrective emotional experience.
Integrating insights from neuroscience, this article advocates
for psychodrama as a valuable modality for clinical social workers
engaged in group work.

How do we ready ourselves to intervene responsively in the contingent situations that arise in co-designing to make change? How do we attune to group dynamics and respond ethically to unpredictable developments when working with 'community'? This paper challenges co-design conventions that focus too tightly on formal process by addressing what happens at the moment when we step into situations to alter them with others. This is intrinsically relational and we expose the politics of practice that cannot be replicated or interchanged. Instead, we suggest that practices of readying are constituted by personal histories, experiences, philosophies and cultures and demonstrate this by giving reflexive accounts of our dimensions of preparation. We have organised these accounts around the qualities of punctuation and poise as a way to draw out some less easily articulated aspects of co-design practice. These narratives are distinct, yet reveal complementary theories and worldviews that shape ontologies and, in turn, shape the experience-and politics-of collaboration.

This paper is based on the experiences of a Psychology training placement with a group of women diagnosed with depression, who are service users of a Primary Care Health Center in a city in the North-West region of Rio Grande do Sul. In the main focus of our reflections is the search for interventions that can liberate roles that have crystallized around this diagnosis. With this in mind, we emphasize the contributions of Morenian philosophy, as these stimulate the development of spontaneity and the rupture of hegemonic social conserves. Thus, we observed how the public environment of the primary care system can be turned into a setting that fosters the human potential, and through work embedded in the socio-psychodramatic theory can further expand general practice.

The continued opiate epidemic has severely impacted young people as drug overdoses have reached unprecedented levels. Young people, more than ever, have been seeking addiction treatment with mostly unfavorable outcomes. Adjusting our treatment approaches to the specific needs of young adults is necessary. Many treatment programs for young adults can be improved by incorporating engaging, experiential treatment groups into their models, including sociodrama and sociometry. This article emphasizes the effectiveness of sociometry in meeting the developmental needs of young adults in addition to recounting the Sociodrama of Life or Death, which manifested spontaneously in an inpatient group at Mirmont Treatment Center and has been enacted with many different groups since. The walk toward life in sobriety or toward death by addiction is a walk that many are facing each day. Using future projection and surplus reality, the sociodrama brings these two paths, side by side, into the room for the group to experience.

Female inmates of a medium-security correctional facility perform a play, For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf. The play’s theme of the oppression of women of color is used to encourage performers to confront social and cultural questions concerning the sexual and physical abuse of women. The inmate performers and the inmate audience bond in a common catharsis during two crucial scenes, resulting in the potentially liberating realization that society’s prevailing “rape myths” are false. The psychodramatic theatre process is tested for providing avenues of new thoughts and perspectives for female inmates seeking new paradigms of society and themselves.

The authors developed a method for measuring the telic sensitivity of individual members in a group, derived from the sociometric test, which has to be previously performed. Such a measure is subdivided into 4 indices: composite indices of Positive and Negative Perception, and composite indices of Positive and Negative Mutuality. Each index scores from 0 to 100. The indices have a normal distribution and, whenever the choices are randomized, an expected mean of 50 (SD = 11.3), irrespective of the size of the groups and the number of the received preferences and rejections. Young girls and boys (mean age 12 years) in actual school groups tend to have higher scores, especially for Positive Perception and Positive Mutuality, as opposed to randomized virtual groups. The authors identify other results in order to exemplify future research in clinical and organizational psychology.
