While the production of lexical abbreviations in German is nothing new, there has probably been no other time quite like today in which all the possibilities of this process of word formation have been used. Knowledge of different types of lexical reduction is of great importance, above all for university students and researchers who want to play an active role in academic discourse in German-speaking countries; this is because lexical shortenings and graphical abbreviations permeate academic-scientific texts, across all areas of specialisation. Given that teaching materials still need to be better integrated, to confront in a more detailed manner the nature, structure and efficiency of this type of formation, the following article will aim to present an overview of the most useful lexical abbreviations for German for academic purposes. In the same way, certain necessary pedagogical considerations will be included, which contribute to the achievement by students of linguistic awareness in the use of such abbreviations.

El uso académico de las plataformas online es una realidad que brinda un amplio
abanico de posibilidades de enseñanza-aprendizaje. Las plataformas institucionales, en
concreto, facilitan este proceso, ya que son herramientas conocidas y utilizadas diariamente
por ambos protagonistas: el alumno y el profesor. El Grupo de Enseñanza Colaborativa de
Lenguas en Red (GECOLER) de la Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) pretende precisamente
aprovechar esta oportunidad al alcance de toda la comunidad universitaria. Este
equipo de innovación educativa está formado por profesores de distintas lenguas (alemán,
francés, inglés, español y valenciano) que trabajan de forma colaborativa con alumnos de
distintas titulaciones y su propuesta responde a la necesidad de diseñar nuevas actividades
para las sesiones de prácticas en el laboratorio multimedia. Para esta aportación en
concreto, nos planteamos la siguiente pregunta de investigación: ¿es conveniente hacer
uso de la plataforma PoliformaT y de google docs para las sesiones de prácticas en la asignatura
de Alemán 2? Presentamos una descripción de la metodología seguida para llevar a
cabo la actividad, y presentaremos los resultados obtenidos y las conclusiones que hemos
extraído de nuestra experiencia.

Online assessment tools have become a powerful tool in gauging students' abilities in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in foreign languages. These tools are useful in assessing more than skills that are being honed in online and hybrid courses. For traditional courses, student on-line assessment can be used as powerful tools to spark active participation in face-to-face discussion in foreign language culture class (and others). These tools also allow the students to see where their own efforts have progressed to BEFORE entering the classroom, which assist
students adjust study habits in order to improve performance in front of peers. Online assessment in traditional courses can also assist the transition from traditional to more media based competency for foreign language professors slow to adapt to newer teaching techniques and can help bridge the digital divide in FLL classrooms.
