The Sub-Urban Services are the Backbone of Transportation System in Metro Cities of India. The riders expect comfortable journey from their Home to Workplace and vice versa. The Sub-Urban services are made up of Electrical Multiple Units which are driven by Squirrel Cage Induction Motors of lower Wattage. The Squirrel Cage Induction Motors work on low Power Factor, are noisy, prone to Vibrations and more bulky as compared to a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor of the same Power ratings. Also Gate Turn-of Thyristors are currently used for the Converter System which is less efficient as compared to an Insulated Gate Bi-Polar Transistor Drive. The Drive System with Insulated Gate Bi-Polar Transistor as switches for Rectifier-Inverter System driving Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors as Traction Motors is proposed and simulated in this Paper

The Internet has played an important role in our daily life. The foremost target of Internet has always been the communication. We can communicate in a fraction of second with a person who is sitting in the other part of the world. Today for better communication, e-mail and other facilities are available also, we can chat for hours with our friends who are live anywhere in the world. Such services of Internet which provide to establish a kind of global friendship where you can explore other cultures of different countries. The information is biggest advantage offered by internet ie, Internet is a virtual treasure of information. Now a days Internet achieve a drastic changes in communication as well as the industrial area. In recent years, Internet is also used fo r controlling the industrial machines like motors cranes and other devices which placed remotely. There are several methods available for controlling speed of DC motor depending on its industrial as well as the domestic applications. This paper includes three type methods for controlling the speed of DC motor by using an android phone. The methods are as follows; (i): Speed control of dc motor using SMS application, (ii): Speed control of dc motor by voice recognition via Bluetooth and (iii): Spee d control of dc motor via Internet. Among the above method, the third one is the introduced system ie Speed control of DC motor Via Internet. In this system, the industrial machines like cranes, traction motors can be controlled remotely by just scrolling the widget in the android smart phone. This gives enough opportunities for physically challenged people to operate industrial machines more easily and safely. This system is simple, cost effective and digital. By using this system we can control any machine fr om anywhere on the world.

Traction motors used in electric vehicles have some definite operational requirements including high torque at low speed and constant high power at high speeds. These high torque and power requirements contribute directly to higher heat generation in the motors. Thus, an effective thermal design is needed during motor design for improved thermal performance. This review paper mainly focuses on different types of effective methods of thermal design analyzing the thermal performance of traction motors. In broad view, this review paper presents a brief discussion on comparison of different methods of thermal design and analysis for different types of traction motors. The final goal of the comparison is to show how improved thermal design can be achieved through optimum electromagnetic and structural design characteristics for different traction motor geometries.

Measuring the position with digital Hall sensors and applying advanced algorithms for position estimation allows one to implement a sinusoidal commutation of a brushless motor, using a vector control scheme. High torque and high power generation in traction motors cause higher heat generation which in turn can cause:- damage of insulation, bearing faults, demagnetization of magnets in PM traction motors. So, thermal stability is one of the most important issues for traction motors. Proper thermal design and analysis not only ensure thermal stability for traction motors, but also suggest proper and effective thermal management which in turn ensure good thermal performance of traction motors. The main focus of this poster paper is to describe different ways of thermal design and analysis of traction motor.
