Name:

Named in honor of Haroun Tazieff (11 May 1914, Warsaw, Russian Empire – 6 February 1998, Paris, France), famous volcanologist. He lived in Belgium starting in 1917 and later in France. He was a pioneer in modern volcanology and spent considerable effort in popularizing vulcanology through numerous books, popular science papers, and documentaries. He directed and appeared in 'Le Volcan interdit' that was nominated in 1966 for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature.
