Obradovicite-NaNa (original) (raw)
A valid IMA mineral species
About Obradovicite-NaNaHide
This section is currently hidden. Click the show button to view.
Formula:
[Na2(H2O)16Na(H2O)6][Mo8As2Fe3+3O33(OH)4]
Lustre:
Sub-Adamantine, Vitreous
Crystal System:
Orthorhombic
Name:
Named for its relationship to other obradovicite group species. The double suffix corresponds to the dominant cations in two different types of non-framework cation sites; in this case both sites are dominated by sodium.
First recognized as a potential hypothetical member of the betpakdalite group (IMA 10-E). Later found on specimens in the collections of the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, USA, on samples collected earlier from the dumps of the Chuquicamata Mine, Chile by Ramn Tabilo, a former mine engineer and approved by IMA as a valid species in 2011. Described by Kampf et al. (2012).
