كانت الكتائب الاستعمارية (Troupes coloniales) أي الجيش الاستعماري (Armée coloniale)، و كانت تعرف باسم الاستعمارية (La Coloniale) ببساطة، كانت القوات المسلحة للإمبراطورية الفرنسية الاستعمارية من 1822 إلى 1961. (من 1822 إلى 1900 سمي هذه الكتائب باسم ) جندوا هؤلاء من فرنسا ومن سكان فرنسيين مستعمرين وسكان محليين في الامبراطورية. لعبت هذه القوات دورا كبيرا في غزوات وإخضاع الامبراطورية تحت سيطرة فرنسا وفي الحرب العالمية الأولى والحرب العالمية الثانية والحرب الهندوصينية الأولى والحرب الجزائرية. Les troupes coloniales, dites « la Coloniale », étaient un ensemble d'unités militaires françaises stationnées dans les colonies et mises sur pied, à l'origine, pour assurer la défense des ports et des possessions outre-mer autres que l'Afrique du Nord (où les unités relèvent de l'Armée d'Afrique), même si ces troupes sont employées massivement en France métropolitaine et au Maghreb au cours du XXe siècle. Le Troupes coloniales (Truppe coloniali) o anche Armée coloniale (Armata coloniale), furono le forze militari dell'impero coloniale francese dal 1900 al 1961. Dal 1822 al 1900 queste truppe furono designate Troupes de marine ("Truppe di marina" o semplicemente "Marines") e nel 1961 ripresero questo nome. Vennero reclutati dalla Francia o dai coloni francesi e dalle popolazioni indigene dell'impero. Questa forza svolse un ruolo sostanziale nella conquista dell'impero, nella prima guerra mondiale, nella seconda guerra mondiale, nella guerra d'Indocina e nella guerra d'Algeria. (it)
The Troupes coloniales ("Colonial Troops") or Armée coloniale ("Colonial Army"), commonly called La Coloniale, were the military forces of the French colonial empire from 1900 until 1961. From 1822 to 1900 these troops were designated Troupes de marine ("Marine Troops" or just "Marines"), and in 1961 they readopted this name. They were recruited from mainland France or from the French settler and indigenous populations of the empire. This force played a substantial role in the conquest of the empire, in World War I, World War II, the First Indochina War and the Algerian War. (en)
