Remarks | Soft, malleable, silvery metal of the lanthanide group. Reacts slowly with oxygen, rapidly with water. Used in alloys for permanent magnets, flints, yellow glass for eye protection for welders, etc.Diagnostic tests: There are no simple diagnostic tests to identify praeseodymium. X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy is commonly employed to identify and analyze members of the Rare-Earth group elements. |
