Weeks end Grad orals went well. I was the chairman of Brant's committee and was very pleased and even surprised by the applause. But is was a long day.Walked over to the aquatic center, it was in the 90s yesterday, and swam laps. grads Ran into three former grad students, LR JW BK , early this week at D&D. Trough 5x7 exhibit that went to Conduit in Dallas, JD looks to have stuff in the Project Room soon. NW, I think want to come down to see some of J's stuff, maybe my paintings too.All 2nd year grads pasted their oral exams. I glad they are over, probably not as much as they are but fridays are now open. With print grads and now 2nds, fridays have been full.Arrived on time, early, to grad celebration party friday at EC's. um Been a while, must have been busy, classes and such. But have kept to swimming between classes on MW during the noon hours.TDH came as a visiting artist and delivered a good lecture/slide show. Last time I heard him speak he was crazy but this time not. Very good insightful presentation.Day of class critiques on Wednesday but only got about half way through with half the students so it will continue next Wednesday.Scared some tricktreaters on monday and passed out candy. Too much traffic to get home before dark but had a good amount of visitors. What is it about driving around in a car until they see a porch light on to get out a stand with their bag out.JY dad passed this week.Finally had day off for studio, painting in the morning. Still a question.Bought some studio supplies, bought a good thick bathroom for after swims at Barton during the cold months.Talked with JC in LA about a plan of what to do with my art that she owns. She's my biggest collector, I think about 18 things.Half way through grads have major group critiques called 30 hour oral exams tomorrow. I'll be sitting in one one, a lottery member of another and chairman of another.JT has an opening tomorrow at Slugfest. Classes on Wednesday, meeting with BW and an SGC meeting over lunch hour.Thursday, what happened? Oh yes. Teeth cleaning, lots of red wine and expresso stains and then reading group at night. Much more in depth discussion on Wise Blood with JG now part of the group. Did get some painting time in.Friday, more painting. Then print critique of SW at her studio with faculty and most grads. Dinner with KH at Hoover's and then over to PD's beautiful home for poker and italy reunion. |
