Le château fort des seigneurs de Beaufort a été construit en quatre périodes entre le XIe et le début du XVIIe siècle. À partir de la seconde moitié du XVIIIe siècle, le château fort fut inhabité et délaissé. Après d‘importants travaux de réparation, les ruines ont été ouvertes au public en 1932. Tout le site est classé monument national depuis 1988. Dans cet article, on trouvera un résumé des dernières recherches et d'autres conclusions.
Die bauhistorische Untersuchung ergab, dass große Teile der mittelalterlichen Burganlage der Passauer Bischöfe erhalten geblieben ist. Es handelt sich um eine Kastellburg mit annähernd quadratischem Grundriss von etwa 66 x 68 m.

The paper discusses the burg of Bela at Ivanščica, a former fortified centre of the preceptory and subsequently a kastelanat of the Knights Hospitaller. The site was surveyed, which served as the basis for a description of the material remains of the burg as well as its first detailed ground-plan. Considering that no archaeological excavations have been carried out so far, the information in the text is supplemented by a review and study of written documents, toponymy and traditions. The thesis about the existence of a defensive tower of a circular ground plan is refuted; its alleged ‘’remains’’ are attributed to a cistern, while the massive defensive tower of a rectangular ground plan is tentatively placed in the southern part of the courtyard. Based on the collected indicators the date put forward for the creation of this stone burg is the beginning of the 13th or the end of the 12th century./
U radu se raspravlja o burgu Beli na Ivanščici, nekadašnjem utvrđenom središtu preceptorata te potom kastelanata vitezova ivanovaca. Lokalitet je rekognosciran, na temelju čega se donosi opis materijalnih tragova burga te njegov prvi precizniji tlocrt. Zbog do sada neprovedenih arheoloških istraživanja, podaci se u tekstu nadopunjuju s pregledom i analizom pisanih dokumenata, toponimije i predaja. Pobija se teza o postojanju branič-kule kružnog tlocrta, njezini se navodni "ostaci" pripisuju cisterni, dok se masivna branič-kula četvrtastog tlocrta pretpostavlja u južnome dijelu dvorišta. Na temelju prikupljenih pokazatelja predlaže se datacija nastanka ovog kamenog burga u početak 13. ili na kraj 12. stoljeća.

Beschreibung und Rundgang durch die zwischen 1015 und 1650 in vier Bauperioden entstandene und erweiterte mittelalterliche Burg Beaufort mit ihren verschiedenen Baustilen der Romanik, Gotik und Renaissance, und durch das über 370 Jahre alte vierflügelige Schloss im Stil der französischen Renaissance, mit seinen imposant möblierten Räumlichkeiten, Gärten, Stallungen und der Brennerei. Es folgt eine Zusammenfassung der Geschichte und Bewohner von Burg und Schloss Beaufort in alter und neuer Zeit.
