Client is 10 years old boy. He belongs to middle socio economic status. Client is a second born child and has one elder sister. He is studying in class five in a Sir Syed school in Rawalpindi. Client was brought to NIRM by his parents. . He came with the complaints of marked behavioral impairments (i.e. difficulty in organizing tasks and activities, difficulty in sustaining attention, Fidgets with the hands, aggression towards people etc). Client was assessed with the help of informal and formal assessment. Informal assessment includes history taking, interview and mental status examination. Formal assessment included House Tree Person (HTP), Child Problem Checklist (CPC), and Colored Progressive Matrices (CPM). According to DSM-5 criteria, results of the psychological tests as well as case history and behavioral observations seem to indicate that client is having Attention Deficit Hyperactivity disorder. Therapeutic recommendations include parental training, behavioral treatment, and classroom management, suggestions for parents and teachers and cognitive behavioral therapy.

Neurofeedback is emerging as a promising technique that enables self-regulation of ongoing brain oscillations. However, despite a rise in empirical evidence attesting to its clinical benefits, a solid theoretical basis is still lacking on the manner in which neurofeedback is able to achieve these outcomes. The present work attempts to bring together various concepts from neurobiology, engineering, and dynamical systems so as to propose a contemporary theoretical framework for the mechanistic effects of neurofeedback. The objective is to provide a firmly neurophysiological account of neurofeedback, which goes beyond traditional behaviorist interpretations that attempt to explain psychological processes solely from a descriptive standpoint whilst treating the brain as a ‘black box’. To this end, we interlink evidence from experimental findings that encompass a broad range of intrinsic brain phenomena: starting from ‘bottom-up’ mechanisms of neural synchronization, followed by ‘top-down’ regulation of internal brain states, moving to dynamical systems plus control-theoretic principles, and concluding with activity-dependent as well as homeostatic forms of brain plasticity. In support of our framework, we examine the effects of neurofeedback in several brain disorders, including attention-deficit hyperactivity (ADHD) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The central thesis put forward is that neurofeedback tunes brain oscillations toward a homeostatic set-point which maintains optimal network flexibility and stability (i.e. self-organized criticality).

Children's pro-ecological behaviors are usually registered using scales based on the idea of a simple connection between attitudes and behaviors. However, this relationship seems to be more complicated. The Children's Ecological Behavior (CEB) Scale has been proposed as an alternative. Based on the Rasch model, it considers the different efforts needed to conduct a series of behaviors. This paper presents an improved adaptation of the CEB to Spanish population. We back-translated the CEB into Spanish, increased the number of behaviors and collected data from 6- to 12-year-olds, using a game format procedure. The scale can detect differences in the effort needed to perform various behaviors. Children's pro-ecological attitudes and behaviors are positively related. No relationship was found between parents' and children's pro-ecological attitudes and behaviors. The Spanish version of the CEB scale emerges as a reliable tool to measure children's pro-ecological ...

Body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) is a common psychiatric disorder that frequently presents to both mental health experts and general health practitioners. Generally, BDD for the most part, goes unrecognized and undiscovered in clinical settings. It is critical to perceive and precisely analyze BDD in light of the fact that this often secret disorder might be crippling. Patients with BDD have impaired functioning, poor quality of life, a high rate of self-destructive ideation and suicide attempts. In this way, it is essential to screen patients for BDD and abstain from misdiagnosing it as another disease. Non-psychiatric treatments (e.g., medicinal and / or surgical) which most patients look for and get inadequate for BDD. This article presents a clinically engaged outline of BDD symptoms, causes and analyses long term effects of psychotherapy on it. A somatoform disorder, wherein the afflicted individual is concerned with body image, manifested as excessive concern about and preoccupation with a perceived defect of their physical appearance and a fear of being evaluated negatively by others (F45.22 of ICD-10) WHO [1]. According to DSM-IV American Psychiatric Association [2]. Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) is a condition where the individual spends a lot of time being worried and concerned about their looks and appearance.

With more and more families presenting with two or more children with autism, this revolutionary treatment method in autism is transforming the lives of these autistic children and their families. Not only that, this approach is healing the lives of the entire family, thus being the FIRST, scientifically proven healing approach in autism that is truly (W) Holistic in every sense of the term. This is a win-win situation for all, as one can see the RESULTS of this path-breaking treatment in autism, right from Day ONE. The Problem While it is known that there is a " risk " of another child with autism being born in a family where the parents already have one child with autism, the actual statistics for the same is lacking. This article is inspired by my experience in healing children with autism in families with more than one child with autism. Autism Treatment Approach The healing method that was applied was Intent Healing™ that is based on Applied Energy Medicine and Applied Intentional Epigenetics. One can know more details about the same by perusing these articles on the scientific basis of the same and the case reports of successfully healed cases here: http://www.intenthealing.com/blog/ and in this online course on 'The Energy Basis of Autism and the Solution' , where the Testimonials and the Evidence of successfully healed cases of Autism, in line with EBM (Evidence Based Medicine) applying Intent Healing™ is available here: http://authenticautismsolutions.usefedora.com The treatment method applied was as follows: 1. Energy assessments of both parents and the autistic children: The energy patterns of the parents and the children were assessed over two days and two nights and the reports shared with the parents. This helps in understanding the underlying specific causes for the symptoms of autism seen in each child with autism, which was unique to each child. 2. Individual healing sessions with each parent: These sessions were done over skype and as Remote Healing sessions timed according to the time zones where the parents lived. Intent Healing™ energies were channeled in the sessions and the individual parents' energies were realigned first. 3. Individual sessions for each child: These sessions were done as Remote Healing sessions while each child was sleeping in bed at different times of the night. In some cases the sessions were done for one child and once the symptoms disappeared in that child the ISSN 2379-7150 sessions were done for the other child who had autism and then the third child after that. In some cases with two children with autism the sessions were done on the same day at different timings and improvements in the symptoms in both the children with each session were noted and documented till complete disappearance of all the symptoms was achieved. Results 1. In all the cases improvements of the symptoms in the children were seen right from the very FIRST session. 2. With consecutive sessions, PROGRESSIVE improvements in the symptoms were seen and documented in both the children with autism in the cases where the families had two children with autism and those families with more than two children with autism, the improvements were seen in ALL the autistic children. 3. In ALL the cases of families with two or more than two children with autism, 70-80% of the limiting symptoms of autism in each child disappeared over a span of 20-30 days were the sessions were done on consecutive days with no break in between. In families where the sessions were done for each child one after the other (doing the sessions for one child only first till the symptoms disappeared and then moving on to the next child and so on), the time period for recovery was correspondingly longer due to the logistics involved. 4. The ENTIRE FAMILY including the parents got healed in the process. By this I mean the physical well-being of the parents improved and they had more energy to devote to their individual creative pursuits and careers and were able to see progress in ALL aspects of their lives individually, as well as collectively, as a family.

Assessing impairment is an explicit component of current psychiatric diagnostic systems. A brief parent and teacher rating scale for assessing impairment was developed and studied using attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) as an exemplar disorder. The psychometric properties of the Impairment Rating Scale (IRS) were measured in 4 samples. Two included ADHD and matched comparison children and the other 2 a school sample. Overall, IRS ratings exhibited very good temporal stability. They correlated with other impairment ratings and behavioral measures and displayed evidence of convergent and discriminant validity. The IRS was highly effective in discriminating between children with and without ADHD. Evidence that the parent and teacher IRS accounted for unique variance beyond ratings of ADHD symptoms is also presented. The scale is brief, practical, and in the public domain. The results of the studies and implications for the assessment of impairment are discussed.

Children are not just 'small adults'. They have specific physical, psychological and social requirements that must be identified and addressed to optimise their well-being in the perioperative period. The healthcare practitioner should be trained to understand the needs of the paediatric patient in hospital, including the ever increasing need to take into account cultural differences. Hospital policy should include a preoperative preparation programme, specially aimed at the paediatric population, where parental involvement is encouraged throughout.

The study present the possibilities of the projective tests with children suffering from a psycho trauma event. Were used test like: CAT (Children's Aperceptive Test), Tell me a story, SATO, as well as drawing tests, a consultative and psychotherapeutic approach. The results are presented in the form of case studies and results of the diagnostic tests and consultations with the children. Several cases of clinical practice are presented, representing the high efficiency of the projective methods in the diagnostic, consultative and psychotherapeutic work with children suffering from a psycho trauma. The results can serve both the practice of clinical psychologists and psychotherapists and as a source of ideas for scientific developments on the subject of psycho trauma in childhood and adolescence. The contributions of the study are related to prevent re-trauma method and avoiding the damaging effect on children, while at the same time obtaining sufficient diagnostic information to develop a treatment and therapy plan for each child. There is a model for systematization of experiences in children with trauma, as well as a qualitative assessment of children's experiences. Keywords: psycho trauma; projective methods; children. The article can be cited as follows: Ivanova, V., Aleksandrov, I. (2020). Clinical opportunities of the projective tests in children who have suffered a psycho trauma event.

Despite a plethora of studies counting, examining, assessing, and diagnosing Filipino children living in poverty, children's own perceptions and concerns about their health and security are rarely elicited. This article draws from fieldwork in an urban neighbourhood in the Visayan Philippines among children who, every day, face a complex and precarious landscape dominated by multigenerational poverty, social marginalization, recurring hunger, and the hazards of living and playing amidst mounting garbage and effluent. I discuss children's perspectives on body and illness in this challenging environment and examine their ideas within the larger context of adult-child, hierarchical relationships, and colonial and contemporary government discourses on children, health, and citizenship. I also examine children's sense of place, agency, and vulnerability, and I discuss the view held by many adults in this community: their children's ideas hold little value.

Since the start of the conflict in Syria in 2011, Syrian refugee children have withstood violence, uncertainty, fear, trauma and loss. This book follows their journeys by bringing together scholars and practitioners to reflect on how to make their situation better and to get this knowledge to as many front liners – across European and neighbouring countries in the Middle East – as possible.
The book is premised on the underlying conception of refugee children as not merely a vulnerable contingent of the displaced Syrian population, but one that possesses a certain agency for change and progress. In this vein, the various contributions aim to not just de-securitize the ‘conversation’ on migration that frequently centres on the presumed insecurity that refugees personify. They also de-securitize the figure and image of the refugee. Through the stories of the youngest and most vulnerable, they demonstrate that refugee children are not mere opaque figures on whom we project our insecurities. Instead, they embody potentials and opportunities for progress that we need to nurture, as young refugees find themselves compelled to both negotiate the practical realities of a life in exile, and situate themselves in changing and unfamiliar socio-cultural contexts. Drawing on extensive field research, this edited volume points in the direction of a new rights based framework which will safeguard the future of these children and their well-being.
Offering a comparative lens between approaches to tackling refugees in the Middle East and Europe, this book will appeal to students and scholars of refugees and migration studies and human rights, as well as anyone with an interest in the Middle East or Europe.

Moral disengagement processes are cognitive self-justification processes of transgressive actions that have been hypothesized to be learned and socialized within social contexts. The current study aimed at investigating socialization of moral disengagement by friends in two developmentally different age groups, namely late childhood (age: 9-10 years; n = 133, 42.9 % girls) and early adolescence (age: 11-14 years; n = 236, 40.6 % girls) over a 1-year period. Specifically, the current study examined whether similarity in moral disengagement between friends was the result of friends' influence or friend selection. Moreover, gender (42 % girls), individual bullying behavior, and perceived popularity status were examined as potential moderators of socialization for moral disengagement within friendship networks. Self-report measures were used to assess moral disengagement, sociometric questions and a peer-nomination scale for friendship networks and bullying behavior, respectively. L...

In this paper the MBD syndrome has been interpreted in terms of impairment of ego function. This focus allows for differentiation of MBD from other childhood disorders, and facilitates an understanding in terms of a continuum of severity of impairment in specific ego functions that reflect specific childhood disorders. Differential diagnosis is facilitated by comparison of those impairments of ego function that are associated with MBD and those that are associated with schizophrenia and with organic impairment. The MBD child is characterized by mild disturbance in the areas of autonomous function, cognitive focusing, and concept formation. The child's reasoning skills, reality testing, and synthetic function are normal. A variation in this pattern of findings could suggest that the child's problem was either more organic or schizophrenic, or a combination of one of these factors in addition to MBD. It is the degree of impairment in each function that raises the possibility of the type of disorder the child experiences. In this approach, the disorder is understood by the particular pattern of ego strength and impairment. An appropriate therapeutic regimen might concentrate on areas of deficiency and be more effective than current approaches.

Background: The phenomenon of learning disability is increasingly occupying the centre stage all over the world. Still, there is no commonly agreed definition for the condition. Method: This study attempts a comparative analysis of the similarities or differences between 23 official definitions of learning disability derived from various sources. By using a quantitative-cum-qualitative systematic procedure of identification and listing the attributes, prioritizing and rank ordering them, assigning of appropriate weights before deducing their conceptual meaning, observations on the nomenclature and content characteristics of the definitions were created as basic data units to be undertaken in this analysis. Results: There is plurality of definitions amidst varying emphasis on nature or content of especially seven majorly identified attributes with little agreement on what qualities characterize the condition of learning disability. The implications of these findings are discussed in the context of the need for quantifying or establishing the empirical veracity of the identified attributes before explicating a cohesive or meaningful overall re-statement on definition of learning disabilities. The need for cross cultural and transnational research is highlighted.

Introduction: End stage renal failure eventually develops in 40% of
patients with diabetes, the IDDM constitute the single most usual
disease leading to inadequacy in adults. Patients with type 2 diabetes
had higher HBA1c and FBS together that is distinctly reduced the
reactiveness of insulin in contrast to healthy control subjects. On
average, death takes place 7years after the start of persistent
proteinuria but the scale is wide (2-32) years. Even though
morphological bruises advance and nature in glomeruli of those that
with diabetes after a few years of metabolic deformities.Chronic
hyperglycemia as measured by mean blood glucose or HBA1c has
been associated with the development and advancement of micro
vascular diabetic complications.
Methodology: This is a case control study done in the in-patient
department of general medicine. From January to July 2014. The
patients selected has a history of diabetes for more than 3 years and
were on hypoglycemic agents/insulin. Diabetic nephropathy was
confirmed by elevated levels of blood urea and serum creatinine,
which has the level above 6.5 mg/dl. All patients had persistent
increase in serum creatinine examinations and controlled cases are
selected contingent on their normal creatinine and urea excretion
profile.
Results: the mean age of the patients with diabetic nephropathy is
54.43 ± 7.99 while the mean age of patients with control profile of
diabetes were 48.37 ± 6.99. There were 22.9%, almost 23% of the
patients with diabetic nephropathy are anemic. And the mean FBS
levels in diabetic nephropathy in the current study were about180. 85
± 42.05 and the mean exhibit by control groups 81.4 ± 7.0. While the
mean HBA1C range in diabetic nephropathy patients was about 9.96
± 5.07 and 4.45 ± 0.57 is the mean of the control group. The levels of
blood urea, serum creatinine and triglycerides are evidently high, though which when compared to control group.
Conclusion: HBA1c and FBS are the important predictors of
intercapillary glomerulonephritis or diabetic nephropathy. HBA1c
is highly co-related to preceding mean blood glucose. The chief
outcome measures which predicts the intercapillary
glomerulonephritis or diabetic glomerulosclerosis or diabetic
nephropathy are HBA1c, triglycerides, serum creatinine and blood
urea nitrogen. Patients with progressed nephropathy showed
increased levels of serum triglycerides, which is the important
independent clinical attribute.

No cut-off scores for the Social Phobia and Anxiety Inventory-Brief (SPAI-B) are available to screen for young adults with and without social anxiety disorder (SAD). In addition, there is a current heated debate on the utility of the performance-only specifier in DSM-5. The present study is aimed at covering these gaps. Participants included 124 young adults in higher education with a clinical diagnosis of SAD and 81 healthy controls. The SPAI-B scores revealed a continuum of severity among the non-clinical population, performance-only specifier participants, and those with both performance and social interactional fears. Data demonstrated the SPAI-B is particularly useful as a screening measure among young adults in higher education, but the limited discriminative capacity of the performance-only specifier may call into question the clinical utility of this recently established specifier.
