The report focuses on the design and demonstration of an anthropomorphic robotic arm with seven degrees of freedom using readily available low-cost components to perform different real time human hand applications. The robotic arm consists of a shoulder, elbow, wrist and a five-finger gripper. It can perform different gripping actions, such as lateral, spherical, cylindrical and tip-holding gripping actions; each finger has three movable links. The actuator used for the robotic arm is a high torque dc servo motor and the five-finger gripper consists of five cables placed like tendons in the human arm. Implementation is done using a human hand glove which senses the motion from sensor technology to produce a proportional analog voltage, digitized via the microcontroller Atmel ATmega32. The microcontroller then through the processed signal controls the mechanical structure that is the robotic arm.

Humanity have always felt the need to alter the environment they inhabit. In our modern era, this desire continues to exhibit itself in more urban landscapes. As a microcosm of the cityscape, university campuses contribute many cultural and economic advantages to the urban population. Moreover they bring under control to the urban growth and generally provides open and green spaces to the city. In this paper, Düzce University Konuralp Campus, located north of the Düzce City, was considered as our study area. Here we describe the Konuralp campus design which was developed in "Duzce University Konuralp Campus Development Plan Urban Design Competition". The method of the study consist of three steps. Some analyses like location, topography (ecological wind corridors and the meeting point of the valleys), spatial zoning, design axes and circulation were performed at the first step. In the second step it has been tried to specify how to apply the steps for designing kind of the...

The main aim of this paper is to identify how acoustics where generally achieve in auditoriums base on the method, technics and the materials been used. This paper will discuss the transition over time. It will cover how the design began from the past (Roman, Greek baroque, renaissance periods) to the present (twentieth century). The paper will further discuss some case studies which are from different periods. The selection of the case study was based on their excellent acoustics qualities of the spaces. It will provide better understanding on how acoustics solution where been achieve in auditoriums/theaters from the past to the present. Finally, the paper will point out some major benefits of using acoustics in auditoriums and also discuss on what causes poor quality sound in the present auditoriums and then suggest the use flat panels technology and line-stone material as it has great impact in in achieving good and qualitative acoustics in the past.

The two basic topologies of switch mode DC-DC converters (Buck and Boost) are analyzed with a view of their use in PV (photovoltaic) systems, as the photovoltaic generator exhibits non-linear characteristics due to the change in environmental condition and load variation. As the efficiency of PV panels is low it becomes mandatory to extract maximum power from the PV panel at a given period of time. Several MPPT algorithms with different types of converters are being proposed for extracting maximum power from the PV panel. It is found that the nature of load plays an important role in the choice of topology. This paper investigates the implementation issues of Incremental Conductance method with Buck and Boost Converters. Mathematical analysis and desirable steady-state operating point of the converters are derived to give satisfactory maximum power point tracking operation.

The use of evolutionary computation in the solution of optimization problems of non-linear type is not new. Many such problems having single or multiple objectives are now routinely solved using different evolutionary methodologies. Through this project, I am delighted to share some recent advances in the area of evolutionary computing. Some critical issues, such as design of an efficient evolutionary algorithm, an efficient constraint handling procedure, scalability issue of algorithms are dealt in this project. The discussion of the topics and subsequent engineering and numerical case studies presented in this project should be useful to non-linear single objective problems alike. Nonlinear Programming by Quadratic Lagrangian (NLPQL) techniques are extensively used for solving realistic optimization problems, particularly in structural mechanics. The common arrangement of NLPQL techniques is briefly discussed and it is shown how these techniques can be tailored for distributed com...

Facial expression has made significant progress in recent years with many commercial systems are available for real-world applications. It gains strong interest to implement a facial expression system on a portable device such as tablet and smart phone device using the camera already integrated in the devices. It is very common to see face recognition phone unlocking app in new smart phones which are proven to be hassle free way to unlock a phone. Implementation a facial expression system in a smart phone would provide fun applications that can be used to measure the mood of the user in their daily life or as a tool for their daily monitoring of the motion in psychology studies. However, traditional facial expression algorithms are normally computing extensive and can only be implemented offline at a computer. In this paper, a novel automatic system has been proposed to recognize emotions from face images on a smart phone in real-time. In our system, the camera of the smart phone is...

Institution is a place where teacher explains and student just understands and learns the lesson. Every student has his own definition for toughness and easiness and there isn’t any absolute scale for measuring knowledge but examination score indicate the performance of student. In this case study, knowledge of data mining is combined with educational strategies to improve students’ performance. Generally, data mining (sometimes called data or knowledge discovery) is the process of analysing data from different perspectives and summarizing it into useful information. Data mining software is one of a number of analytical tools for data. It allows users to analyse data from many different dimensions or angles, categorize it, and summarize the relationships identified. Technically, data mining is the process of finding correlations or patterns among dozens of fields in large relational database. Cluster analysis or clustering is the task of grouping a set of objects in such a way that ...

Container cranes (CC) become the highest electric energy consumption equipment in container terminal. Therefore it is important to study and analyze the hoist motor as the largest motor on container crane operation to look for opportunities in use energy efficiently. Lifting and lowering the container as the fixed operation of CC. Lifting the container as forward operating of hoist motor and lowering the container as reverse operating of hoist motor. The type of DC motor have used to modelling. Simulink (one of Matlab toolboxes) was used to model the forward and reverse of DC hoist motor. When lifting the container (forward motoring), the current required depends on the applied load torque. But when lowering the containers (reverse motoring), the voltage generated by the engine polarity reverse is determined by the downward movement of containers (mass and height). Reverse the polarity, and let the motor functions as a generator, produces a current and then the potential energy was ...

In the recent earthquakes in which many concrete structures have been severely damaged or collapsed, have indicated the need for evaluating the seismic adequacy of existing buildings. About 60% of the land area of our country is susceptible to damaging levels of seismic hazard. We can't avoid future earthquakes, but preparedness and safe building construction practices can certainly reduce the extent of damage and loss. In order to strengthen and resist the buildings for future earthquakes, the behavior of a building during earthquakes depends critically on its overall shape, size and geometry. The nonlinear pushover analysis is becoming a popular tool for seismic performance evaluation of existing and new structures. The weak zones in the structure can be examined by conducting this push over analysis and then it will be decided whether the particular part is to be retrofitted or rehabilitated according to the requirement. This method determines the base shear capacity of the b...
