Vehicular traffic has increased across all over the world especially in urban areas due to many reasons including the reduction in the cost of vehicles, degradation of the quality of public transport services and increased wealth of people. The traffic congestion created by these vehicles causes many problems. Increased environment pollution is one of the most serious negative effects of traffic congestion. Noxious gases and fine particles emitted by vehicles affect people in different ways depending on their age and present health conditions. Professionals and policy makers have devised schemes for better managing traffic in congested areas. These schemes suffer from many shortcomings including the inability to adapt to dynamic changes of traffic patterns. With the development of technology, new applications like Google maps help drivers to select less congested routes. Geocoding is a method used to convert address information into geographical coordinates. It plays a vital role in displaying the relationship between geographic features and semantic information expressed in texts. The objective of this study is to reveal the quality of online geocoding from postal addresses in Turkey provided by Google Maps and Bing Maps services. The quality of geocoding services in urban areas is evaluated using two particular metrics; positional accuracy and address similarity. Positional accuracy measures the distances between point features obtained through the online geocoding and reference data. Address similarity indicates the relationship between two postal addresses based on a similarity index known as the Levenshtein distance. The same performance assessment was also made with the United States’ address data to make comparisons and discussions. The results show that services have different geocoding capabilities in both countries because of the differen...

In the current world the prominence is given to the transportation of goods from place to place. This interest of making "transportation easier to the people" can further be extended by providing the comfort of carrying the goods related to the people in safest manner by linking them with the resource (logistic transport medium). If this linking is done through an application that acts as an interface between customers and resource owners then the work becomes simplified and easy. In our Truck Loader application we are creating such an interface using the technologies like Android Studio, Google Maps, etc. This application is accessible by any digital device like mobile, laptops and PC's with an active internet connection. This application if implemented in real-time will result in good valued solution to the logistics related problems.

Since their release in 2005, Google Maps-based tools have become the de facto solutions for a variety of online cartographic
projects. Their success has been accompanied by a range of critiques denouncing the individualistic market-based logic
imposed by these mapping services. Alternative options to this dominant model have been released since then; uMap is one
of them. uMap is a free, open-source online mapping platform that builds on OpenStreetMap to enable anyone to easily
publish web maps individually or collaboratively. In this paper, we propose to reflect on the potential and limits of uMap
based on our own experiences of deploying it in six different mapping projects. Through these experiences, uMap appears
particularly well-suited for collaborative mapping projects, due to its ease in connecting to remote data and its high level
of interoperability with a range of other applications. On the other hand, uMap seems less relevant for crowdmapping
projects, due to its lack of built-in options to manage and control public contributions. Finally, the open-source philosophy
of uMap, combined with its simplicity of use and its strong collaborative capacity, make it a great option for activist
mapping projects as well as for pedagogical purposes to teach a range of topics including online collaborative cartography.

This article proposes that the experiences of screen tourists in Oxford help to create a theoretical “deep map” of the city which explores place through narrative. Building on the travel writing of William Least Heat-Moon and other recent work in the spatial humanities, two case studies of major screen tourism drivers are considered and analyzed. The British television drama Inspector Morse (1987–2000) explores the ambiguity of Oxford intellectualism through its central character. Morse’s love of high culture, especially music, provides suggestive additional layers for multimedia mapping, which are realized online through user-adapted Google Maps and geolocated images posted on the Flickr service. Harry Potter fans may not be “pure” or independent screen tourists, but they provide a wealth of data on their interactions with filming locations via social media such as Instagram. This data provides emotional as well as factual evidence, and is accumulating into an ever richer and deeper digital map of human experience.

This paper revolves around a series of media art projects that present creative uses of technological errors and glitches in order to subvert the logic, processes and aesthetics of digital mapping technologies. The first scope of this paper is to frame these projects as strategies of counter-mapping adopted in response to the rise of mapping technologies such as Google Maps, Google Street View and Google Earth. The second scope is to describe the subjects behind counter-mapping strategies as media-flâneurs and media-flâneuses: experimental practitioners of new forms of networked wandering. Finally, the third scope is that of sketching the image of the map as dispositif: an ever-changing net of subjects and objects, articulated across different spaces and media, constituting the background of any counter-mapping practice.

In 2003 the Palestinian state received official recognition on the Web before it was established on the ground. The delegation of the .ps Country code Top level domain (CcTld) to the Palestinian Authority and its inclusion in the UN list of recognized countries and territories created an official Web-space in which a Palestinian state operated side-by-side with other sovereign states. Yet with the rise of Web 2.0 applications, the official representation of the Palestinian state partially disappeared.
This study focuses on the shift in the spatial representation of the Palestinian state on the Web, from an officially acknowledged national Web space, followed by its partial disappearance in Web 2.0 spaces, to its reconstruction as a user-generated space. It examines Palestine’s virtual borders on various Web 2.0 mapping platforms, along with the listing (and non-listing) of Palestine as a country in the registration procedure of popular Web 2.0 applications. It shows that on most mapping platforms the Palestinian Territory is underrepresented, and that the country's official representation on the UN list of recognized countries and territories is often omitted or modified on social media sites’ registration forms. After analyzing the geo-politics of social media's drop-down country lists, this study argues that Web 2.0 spaces are unofficial Web-spaces, in which official representations of countries are not determined by diplomacy or approved by international institutions, but rather by interaction between commercial platforms and their users.
Faced with the partial disappearance of their homeland, Palestinian users both in the Palestinian Territory and in the Diaspora thus become placeless participants of Web 2.0 spaces. They attempt to reclaim the virtual representation of their home country as a sovereign Palestinian state by protesting, uploading, tagging and generating content on Web 2.0 platforms. On platforms such as Facebook, Blogger and Google Maps, user activism and user-generated content has led to a spatial transformation from the country's non-listing and non-placement, to its official inclusion. Finally, this article makes a contribution to the theorization of political Web spaces by arguing that the Palestinian case complicates current views on relationships between the Web and the ground. Unlike the common perception that the virtual is grounded in the real, the over-representation of a Palestinian state in official Web spaces, in parallel with its underrepresentation in unofficial Web spaces, and users' treatment of virtual spaces as real spaces, indicate that these realms actually tend to merge, at least in the case of contested Web terrains and unsettled struggles for self-determination.

This dissertation aims to analyze the communicability of digital mapping platforms Google Maps and OpenStreetMap, based on a collaborative experience of the city of Cachoeira, located in a geographical area named Recôncavo da Bahia, in the Northeast region of Brazil. The theoretical framework that guides the research comes from the interdisciplinary confluence of Geographies of Communication and Geocommunications, new subfields of the Communication that deal with digital cartography as a technique and with online maps as a sociotechnical product. For the study of these maps based on their media potential, a dialectical approach is proposed, based on the visibilities and territorialities of the maps in relation to the sociospatial reality. For the empirical analysis, we present a comparative experimental method between two different online maps of Cachoeira, produced under the same cartographic scale, with the objective of critically assessing the dichotomies of sociospatial represen...

Ennin's Diary provides important historical data about the social and
economic situations of Tang and the activities of Silla in the dynasty in the ninth century in the position of a Japanese Buddhist pilgrim. Researches on Ennin's Diary have produced various results regardless of East and West and different periods. Despite these achievements, however, there is a shortage of research that conducted comprehensive analysis of place names along Ennin's itinerary. Following the advancement of information and communication technologies that began in the late 1990s, the field of historical studies has been much affected by their development. The historical materials about Korean history have,
in particular, digitized in massive scale, which has led
the growth of research achievements both in quantity and quality. When historical materials become digital, they claim bigger value for utilization, which raises a need to develop new methodologies for historical studies. The recent concept of digital history recognizes the emergence of historical materials that exist only in digital as well as those are digital as well, which raises a need for software education for their use and utilization. This study first aimed to analyze the place names of Ennin's Diary and restore them in digital from the current perspective. That
is, the study would make use of
digital geographic information as a tool to analyze place names unlike previous studies that analyzed place names based on reference data. Such analysis methods based on digital information will help to search for new methodologies in the current situations of digital era and the digitization of historical materials. If such attempts at new methodologies are accumulated consistently, they will facilitate the expansion of boundary in the study of Korean history and make a further step in the realization of digital Korean history as a domain.

The use of geographic information systems (GIS) techniques in the field of tax collection is a modern method. It provides great potential for tax assessments of various types, especially real estate tax, based on the Metadata and spatial data of real estate sites, for the purpose of assessing real estate taxable properties in a particular area.
In this research, we aim to exploit the advantages of using Google Maps technology, which is a very important technology provided by GIS based on the web by helping to inventory and estimate the real estate tax by accessing the real estate sites in an ideal manner by clicking on the location of the estate in the map of Google We obtain all the real estate data from the owner of the real estate and the leaseholder of the real estate and know all the metadata of the real estate is a piece of land or apartment or house or other with the possibility to see all the real estate taxable and whether it was estimated or not and was paid the tax for the property during the specified year.
In this research, a number of tools were used, including Google Maps technology and object oriented programming languages based on object representation. A database was also used to manage all relationships and interrelationships between MYSQL tables and all this integration led to the design of a system capable of helping to estimate and estimate the real estate tax more Accuracy.

The vehicle population in the world is growing rapidly. Therefore the urban traffic is increasing in proportion. Also, it increases associated problems such as accidents, stress, and pollution. According to the statistics in the Sri Lankan city of Colombo, the average speed of a vehicle would be around 10 km per hour. However to reduce this traffic most cities used traffic light systems. A traffic light system controls the flow of automobiles in a junction, pedestrian crossing, or other special locations. The city traffic is changing within the day. In most cities, traffic ncreases in the morning and evening. Due to this timely variation of traffic flow, most traffic lights are not able to control or minimize this traffic by changing to a pre-defined logic or a timer. In most of the cases, police officers manually adjust these traffic lights. This is inappropriate and day by day the city traffic will increase. The main research objective is to make the traffic light systems more efficient by monitoring and dynamically changing the waiting time of the traffic lights in real-time. In most of the cases, the traffic lights time is adjusted manually according to the traffic size, or sometimes those timers cannot adjust. So this is the main problem identified by the authors. Therefore, in this research, it is proposed to implement a dynamic traffic light controlling system by using Google Maps and IoT. This proposed solution is expected to avoid or minimize these unnecessary traffic jams by identifying traffic density and dynamically change the waiting time of the traffic lights. Moreover, emphasis was placed on the ease of applicability of this system directly to the present traffic light systems.
