The purpose of this research is to discuss an application of real-coded Genetic Algorithm (RCGA) for mixed integer non-linear programming in a two-warehouses inventory control problem. Our objective is to determine an optimal replenishment number, lot-size of a two-warehouse (owned and rented warehouse (RW)) inventory system for deteriorating items removing the impractical assumption regarding the storage capacity of RW. The model is formulated with infinite replenishment, finite planning horizon, linearly time dependent demand (increasing) and partially backlogged shortages. The mathematical formulation of the problem indicates that the model is a constrained non-linear mixed integer problem with one integer and one non-integer variables. To solve this problem, we develop a RCGA with ranking selection, whole arithmetic crossover and mutation (uniform mutation for integer variable and non-uniform for non-integer variable). The proposed model has been solved using this RCGA and illustrated with four numerical examples.

We think of flip chip as a solution for better performance, high I/O or absolute size reduction. But a new and exciting technology is now emerging where the flip chip is the unique answer to extreme cost reduction in a very low I/O product, the RFID tag. RFIDs are Radio Frequency Identification systems - tiny two-way radios with immense commercial

A model based on fuzzy logic is proposed for inventory control. The periodic review model of inventory control with variable order quantity is considered. The model takes into account the dynamics of production–inventory system in a control theoretic approach. The control module combines fuzzy logic with proportional-integral-derivative (PID) control algorithm. It simulates the decision support system to maintain the inventory of the finished product at the desired level in spite of variations in demand. The effectiveness of the proposed control model is illustrated using the actual data of a typical packaging organization operating in the Sultanate of Oman.

The research investigated how effective and efficient determining the quantity order by using the EOQ model. And the objective of this research is to minimize total inventory costs of A50-00766 raw material inventory. This research was expected to give a contribution as management considerations in making decisions related to inventory. The data used in this research are data for 2019 and 2020 covering amount of purchasing and demand on use of raw materials, data on ordering costs, data on carrying costs, raw material prices, and lead time. In this research, there was a comparison between the actual and EOQ model and sensitivity analysis to help decision-makers and policies on inventory problems. The result by using the EOQ model is the percentage reduction of TIC : 66% or 2,037.67,−on2019with6timesorderof21124YDS;and572,037.67,- on 2019 with 6 times order of 21124 YDS ; and 57% or 2,037.67,on2019with6timesorderof21124YDS;and572,407.34,- on 2020 with 9 times order of 35977 YDS.

This paper present a specific case on a spare parts studies in how to reducing halve of spares in an inventory without jeopardising production. In the first section (REDUCING SPARE PARTS VALUE PROPOSAL [SECTION I]), the case study is shows in a very structured manner systematically on the process to halve the spare parts in the inventory starting from identifying the problem then followed by Pareto Analysis implementation to identify and separate into two categories of spare parts: the low value and high value spare parts. Then, the development of the strategies and approaches for each of the category of spare parts is developed in order to get the recommended spare parts stock list. In the second section (POLICIES AND STRATEGIES FOR FUTURE SPARE PARTS CONTROL [SECTION II]) of this paper, the policies and strategies for future spare parts control is developed to ensure the optimum level of spares will be stocked without jeopardizing production and the company operation.

In this paper, we propose a single-product, discrete time inventory model for perishable items. Inventory levels are reviewed periodically and units in stock have a maximum lifetime ofMperiods. It is assumed that the dynamics of the inventory level is driven by a parameter process (reflecting perishability) and demands. By observing the history of the inventory level we obtain the conditional distribution of the perishability parameter by using the change of measure techniques. A special case is also presented.

Lead time in the materials management context can be defined as the time taken from indenting to procurement of a given item. In other words, it’s the time lag between the feel for and the fulfillment of a need. For the purpose of inventory analysis and management control, the process is classified as the ordering lead time and supplying lead time.
While the former represents the time taken for placement of the purchase order from the time the need for a material is first felt, the latter encompasses the supply, transportation and collection time that is apart from the connected stores’ functions of receipt, acceptance, and accounting before the procured material is ready for issue to the indentor. Lead time thus is the measurement of the material availability for use, thereby making it a pulse indicator of the materials management function. Notwithstanding the primacy of efficient management of the lead time, however, the timely fulfillment of a need depends on its timely anticipation.

Any meaningful initiative to improve the teaching and learning in introductory control systems courses needs a clear test of student conceptual understanding to determine the effectiveness of proposed methods and activities. The authors propose a control systems concept inventory. Development of the inventory was collaborative and iterative. The diagnostic test was administered to students before (pre) and after (post) student learning activities. Test responses were analyzed to provide instructors with feedback on their teaching. Using classical test theory and item response theory, aggregated results were analyzed to assess internal consistency and measurement error, respectively. Students demonstrated an improvement from pre- to post-test scores, showing gains of 23%-34% in understanding of new concepts learned. The internal consistency of the test has ranged from 0.61 to 0.68. It can be shown that the precision of the test is highest in the score range of 33%-66%, which is where most post-test scores occurred.

The overall scrutiny of the just – in – time (JIT) requires small lot size, perfect employee participation, total quality control and the basic industrial engineering etc. in the overall parts of the company. The ABC Company is facing the problems of the suppliers. But the positive thing is that it can be controllable. Besides, the company is most probably facing the problems with the proper stable environment with the quality control. Besides, the engineering system of the ABC Company is not so perfect. But the thing is after proper maintenance of these things and by following the given recommendation, the ABC Company can be able to further implement the just – in – time (JIT) inventory system.

The study sought to explore the impact of fleet management on logistics management in the retail sector of Zimbabwe. The study was guided by the objectives that included to determine the impact of fleet management on inventory control, to assess the impact of fleet management on material handling and to ascertain the impact of fleet management on distribution communication. The study adopted pragmatism research philosophy and the correlational research design. The study population comprised 40 participants that were drawn from selected retails in Zimbabwe. A total of 30 questionnaires were successfully returned to yield a 75% overall response rate. Findings deduced from the study proved that a positive correlation existed between fleet management and logistics management. Conclusions and recommendations that for the retail sector of Zimbabwe to succeed requires to have constant change and upgrade on their fleet, master distribution routes and adopt innovation in managing the fleet.
