La necesidad de aprender a diseñar y construir es inherente a la ingeniería. Se considera como uno de los rasgos que componen el concepto de la ingeniería desde su enfoque diferenciador de las ciencias básicas, y que es validado desde lo disciplinar por las ciencias de la ingeniería. Estas últimas, se reconocen como herramientas que permiten alcanzar o implementar metas a través del proceso de diseño. Así bien, en el proceso de diseño de soluciones a problemas reales a través de la ingeniería, se aplica una amplia gama de herramientas asociadas entre otros campos, a la gestión de la calidad y la investigación de operaciones. Las herramientas pueden basarse en control de la calidad, modelos de inventarios, de transporte, almacenamiento, selección de proveedores, pronósticos, producción, localización de centros, distribución en planta, entre otras. El objetivo de estos diseños consiste en encontrar soluciones exactas o aproximadas; desde el campo de la investigación de operaciones, se focaliza el desarrollo de modelos de optimización, simulación o combinaciones de estos, que permitan tomar decisiones eficientes.

In the last years, applying wavelets analysis has called the attention in a wide variety of practical problems, in particular for the numerical solutions of partial differential equations using different methods, as finite differences , semi-discrete techniques or the finite element method. In the construction of wavelet-based elements, instead of traditional polynomial interpolation, scaling and wavelet functions have been adopted to form the shape function to construct elements. Due to their properties, wavelets are very useful when it is necessary to approximate efficiently the solution on non-regular zones. Furthermore, in some cases it is convenient to use the Daubechies wavelet, which has properties of orthogonality and minimum compact support, and provides guaranty of convergence and accuracy of the approximation in a wide variety of situations. In this article we present the design of a model in dynamic systems for studying the socio-economic and sociodemographic characteristics of the population belonging to the early childhood (population between 0 to 5 years of age), children and adolescents in the city of Pereira, Colombia. The model allows to design programs and/or policies of care provided to the population-early childhood according to the patterns of vulnerability and future risks that are obtained with it. The structure of the model is based on a hybrid approach, and some socioeconomic components that are characteristic of the selected location and that have a large stake in the future of the population dynamics of this group. The results obtained from the simulation of the model were able to identify the main variables on which work is to be done, as well as the convergence of the same. RESUMEN En el marco de los modelos gráficos encadenados, se presenta una descripción de los conceptos en los que está basada esta metodología de análisis estadístico, para modelizar una tabla de contingencia multidimensional con variables respuesta. This paper considers a simple supply chain in which a single supplier sells to several downstream retailers and he may distinguish various retailers' demand by giving more importance to satisfying some categories of demand than others. The supplier has limited capacity. If the retailer orders exceed available capacity, the supplier allocates capacity using publicly known mechanism. After allocation if the supplier is left with inventory he can reallocate the demand. An algorithm has been developed for reallocation of demand using different allocation mechanism. It has been shown numerically, how reallocation mechanism can benefit the retailers as well as supplier causing higher supply chain profits. Further, we have tried to evaluate whether a retailer should use truth-inducing mechanism or he should use manipulable mechanism to increase his profit.
