Manufacturing processes are processes to manufacture parts in an ordered and standardized form. Casting is a well common process because of its wide usage among the different big series manufacturing companies. The mold and, therefore, the pattern, are important parts in the part manufacturing by casting. This mold and model are created following a series of restrictions and recommendations in order to manufacture the part as best as possible. In this document, exhaustive analysis will be performed on the design of the mold and pattern to manufacture a replacement for the AKT AK EVO 150CC R3 motorcycle connecting rod made in zamak 410.

In this study, a carbon fibre swingarm was designed with the aim of minimising weight while maintaining stiffness. The vertical and torsional stiffness values of the prototype were measured to be 500 kN/m and 550 Nm/deg respectively. The prototype vertical stiffness is of an order of magnitude greater than the suspension stiffness (a deemed satisfactory minimum). The torsional stiffness of 550 Nm/deg is comparable to published values. The prototype carbon fibre swingarm is 1.5 kg lighter than its aluminium counterpart: a weight saving of 29%. A finite element (FE) model was developed which will be used to further reduce the weight of the swingarm. Validating the FE model using strain gauges produced mixed results. The FEA (finite element analysis) showed good correlation with the vertical displacement of the swingarm and reasonable correlation with the torsional deflection. The study illustrates the superior stiffness to weight ratio of carbon fibre (an important feature in its growing use in automotive component manufacturing) and the importance of validating FE models using macro-measurements (e.g. deflection) when dealing with complex composite structures which have ply overlap and high strain gradients.

This project will lightly investigate practices and culture relating to the Boozefighters Motorcycle Club Chapter 75 based out of Williston, North Dakota. As this social entity is largely unstudied by what would be considered academic sources, there is very little in the area of scholastic resources to draw from for this project. However, I do believe that there is merit in the study of social clubs. The majority of the reporting on the activities of the club comes from my own personal interactions with various club members, associates, and “friends of the club” during my time spent living in Williston, North Dakota. As a lifelong motorcycle enthusiast and rider myself, I have spent many years associating with motorcycle clubs (MC) members and have frequently been part of rides, social events, and charity events hosted by these clubs. Sources used to verify the history of the Boozefighters comes from the book, The Original Wild Ones: Tales of the Boozefighters, written by Bill Hayes, the national press officer of the Boozefighters. One of the only true anthropological studies of MCs, The Rebels: A Brotherhood of Outlaw Bikers, written by Dr. Daniel Wolf will be used to compare cultural and procedural components of MCs. Finally, I will use a number of articles written about MCs dealing with various topics to show a kinship in some cultural actions with MCs as social actors in their actions dealing with charity and funeral rites.

The crankcase breathing of classic motorcycle engines is a subtle and
neglected subject. Early motorcycle designers spent more time on what was happening over the piston, than under it. Little has changed on today's marques. These feature the same problems as those with vintage and classic engines. Rex Bunn, developer of the Bunn Breather technology, shows us how gains can be made to engine power, oil-tightness and service life by making simple improvements to crankcase breathing.

This report made after a request by the MCN USA Editor, explains the puzzling phenomenon a US rider experienced i.e. of a vacuum forming in his Harley oil tank. The Editor had consulted mechanics and US engineers who were all unable to explain the vacuum. He had a hunch the answer lay in the crankcase and consulted me. Having resolved chronic Breather design issues in my Harley's, I wrote him this report the next day, based upon my years of crankcase ventilation research. The report satisfied the rider and Editor. I believe it to remain true for such Harleys with this kind of breather design. I went on to design and launch a Triple Breather DIY Kit for Harley 883 and 1200 engines but this was near the time I decided to shut my global crankcase ventilation business as it was interfering with riding time.
The Editor was kind enough to declare me the foremost crankcase breather expert in the world, an award I was pleased to accept, based on my evidence-based publications and crankcase Kits.

In spite of the numerous contributions of maintenance and repair service to the motorcycle industry there appears to be a general impression that services within the industry are of lower quality. However, a preliminary study revealed otherwise. This paper therefore looks at the quality of service in the industry using a scientifically modified SERVQUAL approach in the Central Region of Ghana. Atotal of 240 drivers took part in the study at a usable response rate of 83.3 percent. Data was analyzed employing Cronbach alpha, mean and standard deviation. Results showed negative service quality gaps for all dimensions considered, viz. Empathy (-3.16); Assurance (-2.42); Reliability (-2.23); Tangibles (-1.92); Responsiveness (-7.73); Cost (-1.68) and Communication (-0.85), with Empathy being the relatively least satisfactory Average service quality gap was-2.02. Study outcomes thus showed that, generally, the quality of service in the industry is not satisfactory.Service providers in the industry shall be advantageously placed and be more competitive if the dimensions considered are dedicatedly taken care of through improvement of the dimensional attributes. Thou the findings cannot be generalized, it provides fundamental information on the industry in the Central Region of Ghana and a reference for further and future research in Ghana.

The increase in the number of motorcycles in Indian cities is due to several factors such as traffic, low cost, mobility, few parking lots and the low efficiency of public transportation, becoming an important factor in air quality deterioration. In this context, vehicle emissions monitoring is essential to understand the contribution to air pollution as a whole.. The development of models for air pollution assessment has been identified as an important area for future research. Air pollution due to massive use of motor vehicles in urban areas of India is one of the most serious and the fastest growing problem to solve. These motor vehicles emit significant quantities of CO2, CO, hydrocarbons, oxides of nitrogen, SPM and other toxic substances in the atmosphere which adversely affect the environmental and the health. The objective of this study is to understand the chemistry of air pollution with its precise estimation through modeling. The behavior and relation between emission and deposition of pollutants can explain with the help of air quality models. Modeling is a set of different scientific methods that are helpful to analyse the nature and behavior of pollutants in the atmosphere. On the basis of source of pollutant air quality models are classified as point, area or line source models. Various Gaussian based line source models are commonly used in India to assess the impact of vehicular pollution along the roads or highways. The CO pollutant concentration values were compared with the National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS), and the CO values were predicted by using CALINE4 model. The possible association between CO pollutant concentration and traffic parameters like traffic flow, type of vehicle, and Roadway width was also evaluated.

Source: www.otosae.com

With almost ten percent of the world's motorcycles in use in Thailand, this indicates that Thailand is a big market for motorcycle accessories in the world. This pilot qualitative research aims to investigate consumer insight by using completion techniques (sentence completion and story completion). Three respondents were deployed by using accidental sampling. Respondents were recruited to complete questionnaires when they entered the motorcycle accessory shop and were reported as male and at least 15 years old. This research was conducted in a motorcycle accessory shop in the Northeastern part of Thailand due to its prone to deal environment. From the results of the story completion tests, all participants agreed to take part in a promotion which gave a ten percent discount for membership card holders. They came to the motorcycle accessory shop by the recommendation of friends (positive Word-Of-Mouth). Moreover, consumers are satisfied when a seller can give them information or suggestions on motorcycle accessories as well as providing good after-sales service. Notwithstanding, this research is merely a pilot qualitative research, used as a guideline for future study in the motorcycle accessory market. Further research should increase the sample size in order to improve the validity of the research. Quantitative research is highly suggested when dealing with a few hundred or more accessory buyers.

How To Bleed Motorcycle Brakes From Empty? Bleeding your brakes from empty it’s a very simple process even if the system was totally empty. If you’re doing an entire fluid change the process is probably still not that difficult, you’re just going to be cycling more fluid through the brake system. You’re just doing the same thing a bit more often.

Novice, intermediate and advanced baseball hitters followed a 7–week training programme, in which they received either behavioural training or decision training. Participants in the behavioural training group received simple-to-complex instruction, variable practice and an abundance of feedback throughout the acquisition period; the decision training group received complex instruction, variable practice and reduced delayed feedback. As predicted, the intermediate and advanced hitters who received decision training hit at a lower level (%) during acquisition but at a higher level during a transfer test in week 7. Novices in the behavioural training group were better than novices in the decision training group over both acquisition and transfer trials.

Highly repetitive submaximal intermittent contractions of the forearm muscles during periods of 30-50 min partially explain why motorcycle races are so demanding for the neuromuscular system. This study investigated the contribution of central and peripheral mechanisms of fatigue on the exerted and contralateral extensor digitorum communis following an intermittent fatigue protocol (IFP) designed for motorcycle riders. 12 riders performed an IFP, which simulates the braking and throttle handle gesture. We examined the time course of recovery of maximal voluntary contraction (MVC), M-wave, motor evoked potential (MEP) to transcranial magnetic stimuli in relaxed and facilitated condition, and the cortical silent period (CSP) at time windows of 1, 3, 5, 10 and 20 min after the IFP. Whereas MVC, M-wave and MEP decreased, CSP lengthened significantly in the fatigued limb after completion of the IFP. Nevertheless, no differences were observed in the contralateral limb. All neurophysiological parameters reverted to baseline values in less than 20 min, while MVC remained lower in the exercised limb. No cross-over effects were observed in the contralateral non-exercised limb. Our results suggest that local factors are those mainly responsible for the incomplete MVC recovery after an intermittent muscle contraction protocol.

Beginning of the 1960s, Ugandan smugglers needed a cheap, reliable, and quiet way to move materials between Uganda and Kenya. Cars were too expensive and noisy, and so were motorbikes. Their choice was to use bicycles which, with a little luggage rack behind the seat, were perfect for evading the border police while transporting valuable goods. The idea had an unexpected development. Those bikes were so strong that perhaps were also suitable as taxis to transport people. Michael Lipton, identified rural isolation and distance from urban centers as the real obstacle to the growth of developing countries (Lipton 2014). The gains were lower than those derived from smuggling, but at least the business was legal and the riders did not have to deal with the police system of the two countries. This development gave rise to the Boda Boda taxi system which, from the border between Uganda and Kenya, where it was invented spread quickly in east Africa. The widespread development of motorcycle ...

The popularization of private transport is a process that expands intensively in most Brazilian cities. In the metropolis of São Paulo, the popularization of individual transport intensifies the effect of the 1990s, with the advent of the popular car and motorcycle for popular classes. This process is the result of a speech that pointed to the market as a solution to the individual solve your problem of disabled buying a private transport. This article aims to understand the basics of this process of popularization of individual transport, as well as understand the reasons for the purchase and perception of the people who use these individual transports. Therefore, this article is based on a multi-strategy methodology, which aims to integrate the quantitative approaches, referring to statistical data that demonstrate the process of popularization of individual transport, as well as, qualitative, based on interviews emphasizing the perceptions of users of automobiles and motorcycles in their daily shifts in the metropolis of São Paulo.
