The study investigates the use of pilot-aided channel estimation to compensate for the optical sub-system non-linearities in the presence of AWGN. The results show that pilot-aided (optical) channel estimation is an effective method of compensating for the optical sub-system impairments. It is found that there is always a suitable pilot power level which minimises the system Bit Error Rate (BER) performance.

Quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) is a modulation scheme used by digital communication systems to obtain high data rates in bandwidth-limited channels. M-ary QAM schemes with M values greater than 256 are currently used by wireless network standards, such as WiFi 6 and WiFi 7 (final standard will be released in 2024), which use the 1024-QAM and 4096-QAM modulation schemes, respectively. With the continuous development of technology for digital communication systems, both wireline and wireless, it is essential to research regarding advanced modulation schemes. This study discusses the simulation of the 1024-QAM and 4096-QAM modulation schemes using MATLAB software to compare the performance of the two modulation schemes in data transmission through the AWGN channel without using an error control code. The Subcarrier Index Modulation OFDM (SIM-OFDM) appeared in 2009 promising a-3 dB transmitted power reduction without affecting the system performance. Therefore, it became an attractive choice to upgrade the communication systems with researchers' increasing interest. Despite the research efforts in SIM-OFDM field, there was no in-depth investigation for such transmitted power reduction or the system's performance. The claimed power reduction relies on probabilistic assumptions that were not validated considering system operation concepts. This paper provides a new analytical model that characterizes the actual SIM-OFDM behavior. The contribution of this model is the inclusion of the majority condition in the derivation of 1's pmf which modifies the 1's pmf into a complex nonlinear function that is always higher than 1/2. The new pmf effect upon the power reduction, synchronization, and the overall Bit Error Rate (BER) is investigated. The new analytical model shows that the-3 dB power reduction cannot be achieved. Also, no successful synchronization can be established unless extra subcarrier is added that will create a frame like communication system. Such scheme increases BER if the carrier is falsely detected creating a Frame Error Rate (FER) which might lead to serious problem.

Abstrack – This paper evaluates the performance of the Neural Network algorithm as a PAPR reduction techinique of a OFDM system. Simulation result shows that for OFDM signals with subcarrier numbers of 64 and modulation 16 QAM, application the NN algorithm gives a decreasing PAPR value 5,6 dB camparing to PAPR of OFDM signal without reducton. Also comparing the NN algorithm with other reduction techniqes such as Iterative Clipping and Filtering, (ICF), Selective Mapping (SLM) and Partial Transmit Sequence (PTS). CCDF curves shows the performance the NN algorithm has the best one comparing to Iterative Clipping and Filtering, (ICF), Selective Mapping (SLM) and Partial Transmit Sequence (PTS) techniqes. At the receiver side the evaluation is represented in bit error rate values, and the NN algorithm has the best performance.

The amplify-and-forward and the decode-and-forward cooperative coded diversity and is compared with the conventional receiver coded diversity in terms of the pairwise error probability and the overall bit error rate. The diversity systems under consideration can achieve the diversity order at most two. The performance comparison assumes channel coding with non-binary linear modulations, independent fading channels with pathloss attenuations proportional to the distances between the communicating nodes, and the diversity combining at the destination receiver. The expressions for the pairwise error probabilities are obtained analytically and verified by computer simulations. The performance of the cooperative diversity is found to be strongly relay location dependent. Zero padded single carrier spatial modulation system is an effective method of data transmission. This system achieves full multipath diversity and imposes a relatively low maximum likelihood detection complexity. However the main drawback of this system is that it suffers from high Peak-to-Average problem. In this paper, we propose an effective reduction scheme that combines Discrete Cosine transform and Selective mapping technique along with zero padding. The scheme is composed of the Discrete Cosine transform followed by the Selective mapping using the Riemann matrix to obtain phase sequences for the Selective mapping technique. The simulation results shows that the PAPR can be greatly reduced by applying the proposed system with low complexities computation and the bit error rate performance is significantly better than the zero padded spatial modulation technique. The objective of this research was to implement raised cosine filter in DVB-S2 using matlab simulink in order to optimize SNR and BER value. Visible light communications are limited by the narrow bandwidth of their sources as the light-emitting diodes, which restricts the high data rates transmission. A potential technique such as multi-carrier modulation is considered promising for achieving a high-speed data rate and enhancing system performance. This paper proposes turbo coding with unipolar orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (U-OFDM) for indoor environments. The system under U-OFDM considerations can reduce the inter-symbol interference caused by multiple paths and mitigate burst errors by adopting an iterative turbo decoding. The system performance is evaluated regarding the bit error rate (BER) for the range of the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) under receiver field-of-view (FOV) restriction. The obtained results show that the performance system of the target BER (below the threshold limit of 3.8×10 −3) has a power penalty of ~9 dB for modulation order of 64 for quadrature amplitude modulation scheme, FOV of 50°, and incidence angle of half power assigned to 30°. The obtained results also showed a ~10.8 dB improvement in the SNR when comparing the present system with coded-DCbiased optical OFDM under the same considerations.

We propose a system that depends on a comparison between Deep Neural Networks (DNN) and Kalman Filter (KF) algorithm for two optical modulation techniques; asymmetrically clipped optical-orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (ACO-OFDM) and direct current optical-orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (DCO-OFDM). The channel estimation can be evaluated by changing the rate of errors in the received bits, where increased error means a performance decrease of the system and vice versa. Abstrak Teknologi informasi dan komunikasi sedang berkembang dengan cepat. Visible Light Communication (VLC) adalah perkembangan teknologi komunikasi yang multi fungsi untuk memenuhi dua kebutuhan manusia yaitu penerangan dan konektivitas internet. Namun pada kenyataan penerapan teknologi ini perlu memiliki standar parameter untuk tercapainya mobilitas pengguna yang maksimal dan juga konsumsi energi yang minim guna menciptakan teknologi multifungsi dan efesien. Full Width Half Maximum (FWHM) adalah salah satu parameter yang mempengaruhi kinerja sistem VLC khusus nya pada sisi transmitter. Ideal nya FWHM ditentukan berdasarkan kebutuhan, namun guna menjawab tantangan mobilitas user yang terbatas maka FWHM ideal perlu ditentukan. Hasil yang didapatkan dengan performansi keberhasilan sistem adalah BER 10-3 adalah 22,72 meter persegi dari luas keseluruhan ruangan 25 meter persegi pada rentang FWHM 70o - 85o.
