Formula: Th(SiO4)

Localities: Reported from at least 26 localities in this region.

Colour: black

Description: Described by Esmark (1836) as spherical shaped pieces ("kugleformige stykker") to size of a walnut and partly as flat cleavage pieces ("flade brudstykker").

Thorite var. Calciothorite

Formula: (Th,Ca2)SiO4 · 3.5H2O

Description: When heated up to 1000 celcius grades, the materiale gave a XRD pattern similar to huttonite (Neumann 1985)

Thorite var. Orangite

Formula: Th(SiO4)

Localities: Reported from at least 8 localities in this region.

Formula: CaTi(SiO4)O

'Tourmaline'

Formula: A D3G6 (T6O18)(BO3)3X3Z

Habit: Aggregate of radiating crystals

Colour: Black

Description: Found in one sample, probably from Arøya. Brøgger made a thin section of it and found taht the crystal was zonated with a blue core, a darker blue and a darker brownish rim. (Brøgger 1890)

Volkonskoite ?

Formula: Ca0.3(Cr,Mg,Fe)2((Si,Al)4O10)(OH)2 · 4H2O

Colour: green

Description: Clay-like mineral found in a patch of 1 x 1 cm in the middle of a red spreustein pseudomorph. XRD gave powder pattern similar to volkonskoite (Nilssen & Raade 1973), but the content of Cr2O3 was however not determined.

'Wad'

Description: Described by Flink (1988) as manganschwärtze

'Weibyeite'

Description: A sample labelled Weibyeite and collected by W.C.Brøgger in 1902 was showed by Sverdrup et al. (1959) to be bastnäsite-(Ce). Sæbø (1963) rexamined Brøggers "Weibyeite" and found it to be a mixture of Ancylite-(Ce) and bastnäsite-(Ce) pseudomorphs after ancylite-(Ce)
