About AlloclasiteHide

This section is currently hidden. Click the show button to view.

Colour:

Steel gray to silver

Crystal System:

Monoclinic

Name:

For the Greek άλλος ("allos") for "other" and κλάσις ("klasis"), "to break", because its cleavage was believed to be different from marcasite.

See also the chemically very similar Cobaltite and Glaucodot. Compare 'UM1966-01-As:CoNiS'.

Fe content is distinctly higher than that of cobaltite, and the Fe usually occupies about 25% of the (Co,Fe) site (Kingston, 1971).
