CNC machining nowadays makes more use of "Mechatronics" increasingly. Combining numerical control with mechanic, electric, and data processing systems can lead to new methods of production. In recent years, the development of CNC has made it possible to perform nonlinear correction motions for the cutting of spiral bevel gears. In this paper, we attempt to manufacture the spiral bevel gear using a three-axis CNC milling machine interfaced with an additional PLC module based on traditional discontinuous multicutting method accomplished by using a universal milling machine interfaced with an indexing work head. This research consists of (a) geometric modeling of the spiral bevel gear, (b) simulating the traditional and our new nontraditional method using a CAD/CAE system, (c) process planning for CNC machining and PLC Programming, (d) experimental cuts with a three-axis CNC milling machine were made to discover the validity of the presented method. The results demonstrate that invented experimental cutting method of SBGs not only is less expensive than advanced CNC machining but also produces gears in a shorter time in comparison with the traditional cutting. Thereby, it is an economical method in manufacturing of SBGs.

The purpose of this project is focused on the modelling of cutting conditions to get lowest surface roughness in turning ASTM A242 TYPE-2 ALLOYS STEEL by Artificial neural network and Regression Analysis method on the CNC lathe. The process of metal Cutting has been well researched over the years, relatively small research has been carried out on the cutting of alloy of ASTM A242 grade materials. In this study, the effect and modelling of machining parameters cutting speed, feed rate and depth of cut and Tool nose radius on surface roughness will be checked.

This paper presents complete process of turning operation by using CNC machine tool and the input parameters associated with the process that can be controlled to enhance the output quality parameters like material removal rate and average surface roughness as per the desired requirement. Every detail of turning operation and associated parameters is explained. The optimization techniques like Taguchi, Anova, S/N ratio, grey relational analysis is also described and their importance is also discussed in detail. The study explains step by step procedure involved in optimization of turning process in detail.

Optimization of cutting operations is an active area of research in the CNC-based manufacturing. The limited capabilities of the CAD/CAM systems require development of a new software and new numerical methods verified by practical machining. First, we outline the recent methods of tool-path planning of industrial milling robots. Next, we present some introductory examples to demonstrate that the concept of adaptive curvilinear grid contains almost all the basic ingredients of tool-path planning, such as: adaptation to regions of large milling errors, conventional zigzag/spiral patterns and constraints related to the scallop height. Therefore, we formulate the problem of tool-path optimization in terms of interpolation of the required part surface in the curvilinear coordinate system associated with the cutter location points. In order to solve the problem numerically we introduce a variational grid generator based on minimization of the Dirichlet-type functional subjected to constraints related to the maximum allowed scallop between the consecutive tracks of the tool. The corresponding variational problem is then solved numerically by the quasi Newtonian scheme combined with a penalty-type iterative algorithm. We present an application of the algorithm to tool-path planning of the complex shaped parts and demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed scheme by methodological examples verified by real machining. Finally, we show that grid generation may constitute a basic component of a system of mathematical models for part optimization.

Surface finish is a prime factor for each and every machined product. Surface finish is an important factor in determining the satisfactory functioning of the machined components. A good surface finish improves the appearance, adhesion, corrosion resistance, wear resistance, hardness, modify electrical conductivity, remove burrs and other surface flaws, and controls the surface friction. Hence, the surface finish needs to be measured accurately to ensure the proper functionality of the machined component in the desired applications. Considering the importance of developing accurate and simple measurement techniques of surface finish, this work was undertaken to design a unique model which is enabled to measure surface roughness with the help of RGB values of the given images of the machined component using MATLAB. The objectives of the project include developing a model to classify the type of process the work piece has undergone and to develop a model to predict the cutting parameters of the machined work piece.

Laser cutting is mostly a thermal process in which a focused laser beam is used to melt material in a localized area. A co-axial gas jet is used to eject the molten material from the cut and leave a clean edge. A continuous cut is produced by moving the laser beam or work piece and leave a clean edge. A particular characteristic of a laser cut is the formation of striations on the cut edge. These striations play an important part in laser cutting as they effectively control the edge roughness. Laser Beam Machining is widely used manufacturing technique utilized to perform cutting, engraving and welding operations on a wide variety of materials ranging from metals to plastics. In the present work an attempt has been made to study the effect of process parameters such as feed rate, input power and standoff distance on the quality of the machined surface using laser beam on mild steel and stainless steel. The quality of cut is assessed in terms of response parameters such as upper kerf...

Because of high speed conditions of work and nonlinearities during machining the feed drive mechanism of vertical milling machine it becomes a very diff icult model to be designed and controlled. In this paper we try to f ind a fast solution to overcome these problems and it is an attempt of f inding alternative easiest ways of successful fuzzy logic control implementation. We propose an approach that offers some stability characteristics and very good computational performances eff iciency. The controller gives fast loop response stability, reducing the steady state error, increasing the rising time and decreasing the settling time.

Over the past years the target for waste recovery/ recycling has significantly increased in Romania, in according with the EU Directives. Nowadays, the competitive contexts of the current market lead the manufacturers to obtain novel and custom-made products using new technologies and quality raw materials. Such resources can be consisting of low-cost waste/by-products and in the processes of converting them into value-added products. On the other hand, the necessity for recycling waste is important under the strict European legislation. Regarding glass, the key sources of waste are container/ packaging glass, flat glass, electric and electronic equipments, domestic glass, E-glass, etc. According with source, waste glass can be: pre-and post-consumer waste glass. Now many recycling processes have been studied, developed and applied in industry. The major challenge is represented by creating of innovative and sustainable technologies and making it suitable. But recycling of glass is ...
