Capacitively-driven on-chip wires reduce both latency and energy compared to repeaters. A series coupling capacitance offers preemphasis to lower wire delay, reduces the driven load, and lowers the wire voltage swing without a second power supply. A 0.18mum CMOS testchip shows 10.5times energy savings at a 50mV swing compared to full-swing repeated wires, and a 3times gain in wire bandwidth

In this paper, we present a new sense amplifier based flip-flop that exploits input data activity, to achieve reduced power consumption. The internal nodes of the proposed flip-flop are charged/discharged only when the input data changes state. Simulations show that the power consumption of proposed flip-flop is reduced by 20% to 70% compared to standard sense-amplifier flip-flop. An FIR-filter based on the proposed flip-flop, implemented in 45nm ST process, shows more than 42% improvement in power consumption (with 5% delay penalty) compared standard sense-amplifier flip-flops.

FIR filters that provide linear phases are frequently used in digital signal processing, voice and data transmission. Polyphase FIR filters are applied in many practical applications of DSPs that require the sampling rate of a signal to be changed. This paper describes the design and implementation of a high-speed programmable polyphase FIR filter. The FIR is designed to run automatically under all conditions according to the programmable configuration word including symmetry/asymmetry, odd/even taps, and 32 taps up to 256 taps. The maximum sampling frequency is obtained as 100MHz.

—Filter plays a vital role in Digital Signal Processing, a filter is a process s or device that eradicates some unwanted features or components from a signal, Correlations can be removed for certain frequency components and not for others without having to act in the frequency domain. Moreover, we can use different windows (Bartlett, Rectangular, Blackman) as per the attenuation.
