Omkareshwar a pilgrimage tourism destination in Madhya Pradesh offers a complex example of the way the element of Heritage interpretation can provide unique experiences of the idea of India. Although perceived a sacred town, Omkareshwar illustrates the Heritage of Learning with a mystical cave at the centre of the argument. The cave was one where the iconic 8thc Sage of Hinduism Adi Shankracharya met and acquired knowledge from his teacher – Guru Govind Bhagvatpada. This article expounds the pilgrimage town of Omkareshwar, the metaphor of the river in the making of the sacred geography. And finally introduces an aspect of the Heritage of Knowledge and learning in India.

Studies conducted over many years have consistently shown that a significant proportion of Australians hold negative attitudes towards Arabs and Muslims. These attitudes are driven by, among other things, fear of terrorism and anxiety about cultural incompatibility, and a conflation of the Middle East as a region, Arabs as a people, and Islam as a religion. At the same time, Australian news media tend to report on the Middle East and related topics through a narrow frame of conflict, terror and extremism, and often after similarly conflating region, race and religion. Given that much of Australian citizens' exposure to foreign cultures is through the news media, the negative effect on cross-cultural understanding between Australia and the Middle East caused by such reporting is significant. A range of educational and informational programs – past and present – have attempted to address this problem and disrupt journalists' cascade of assumptions and conflation of associations, with the intention of inspiring more nuanced, informed and diverse journalism about the Middle East and related matters. This paper presents the findings of research into one such program: a mid-2016 study tour for Australian journalism students to the United Arab Emirates and Qatar. At the end of a seventeen-day professional and cultural program, the participating students returned to Australia with deeper, more critical understandings of the Middle East and related matters across cognitive, behavioural and affective dimensions, along with an intention to use the lessons learned on tour to inform the work they produce throughout their careers.

In October 2016, we conducted survey for displaced women who are rescued from the insurgent and terrorist, Boko Haram in IDP camp, Durumi, Abuja. In the same October and December, we have also done survey research on women victims of sexual assault for Agape Center (Sexual Assault Referral Center), the very first shelter in Akwa Ibom state. Both results were astounding—we see clearly the horrible women’s situations in Nigeria. Their needs are great and they are completely
neglected!

abstract This paper is a reflective study of experiential learning as an American history teaching tool. It is based on a survey of students who took a University of Melbourne study tour to the United States in the years from 2001 to 2011. This survey asked students to identify the tour's longterm outcomes. The responses showed that students believed the study tour was beneficial academically, and that it also opened up employment opportunities. However, the most significant benefit identified by the students was positive social outcomes — the friends they made on the tour and the professional networks they formed. The conclusion we drew from these results was that students believe that experiential learning has a legitimate place in history curriculums, and that it is an antidote to the loneliness they feel in traditional classroom settings.

Planning an overseas intensive is, in many ways, akin to staging a full- scale theatrical production. After the overture, when the curtains open, the audience is taken on a thrilling journey into the creator’s imagination. If the performance is successful, the audience will not see any commotion backstage: the mad running around; changing costumes; warming up. If the performance is effective, the audience won’t know if the actors are having a good or bad day in their personal lives. If the performance is ‘a hit’, everything will run smoothly and effortlessly and the audience will not stop to consider, until some time later, how much work must have gone into making it a success.
