A valid IMA mineral species

04869500014947063209191.jpg

Specific Gravity:

7.10 (Calculated)

Name:

Named by L.J. Cabri, J.H.G. Laflamme, A.C. Roberts, A.J. Criddle, and L.J. Hulbert in 1991 in honor of Alfred "Fred" Walton Jolliffe (8 May 1907, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada - 5 August 1988), geologist with the Geological Survey of Canada and professor at Queen's University. His early geological mapping of the Beaverlodge area in northern Saskatchewan for the G.S.C. encouraged commercial exploration in the area.
