Name:
Named for being the sodium analogue of palermoite. The root name is for the type locality of the Palermo #1 Mine, USA.
The Na-analogue of palermoite. The element combination is to some extent shared with bøggildite and arrojadite-(SrFe).
Visually indistinguishable from palermoite.
Although isostructural with palermoite, having Li substitution for Na leads to a substantial increase of the b parameter. The VIINa-bearing polyhedron is more regular than the corresponding one in palermoite.

Prismatic crystals, up to 200 x 50 x 45 μm, striated parallel to the direction of elongation (i.e., the a axis) .
Place of Conservation of Type Material:
Type material is deposited in the collections of the Mineral Museum of the University of Arizona, Tucson, Arizona, USA, catalogue number 19735, and the RRUFF Project, deposition number R130092.
