From Proto-Indo-European *perh₃-o (“providing”), from *perh₃- (“to grant”). Cognate with pariō (“to produce”), properus (“ready”), Ancient Greek ἔπορον (époron, “to give, furnish”), Old Irish ernaid (“to grant, bestow”) Sanskrit पृणाति (pṛṇā́ti, “to grant, bestow”).
(to adorn, to ornament): compare typologically Latin ōrnō, Russian наряжа́ть (narjažátʹ) (akin to поря́док (porjádok)).
