Mobile applications are becoming increasingly widespread and complex. Many of these applications suffer from usability issues, including information overload, screen clutter, lack of task support and limited interaction mechanisms. Adaptive user interfaces (AUIs) have been proposed to address some of these usability issues. The aim of this paper is to investigate how AUIs can improve the usability of mobile applications. This paper discusses several simple types of adaptation that have been shown to yield significant usability benefits for mobile applications. Two case studies are presented to illustrate how an AUI can be incorporated into different types of mobile applications. This paper also discusses the lessons learned from these case studies and presents some implications for designing adaptive systems in the future.

The current research project focuses on the development of an innovative social health network and electronic health record system (IMPILO platform) which is based on Blockchain technology. The purpose of this project is to provide a series of health services (e.g. booking of medical appointments and tele-counselling meetings) to both citizens and doctors that would offer a more direct communication and cooperation between them and thus help reduce critical delays in medical care provision. As IMPILO manages health data, in addition to the group of friends found in some forms on all social networks, two additional certain types of user relationships have been defined: Circle of Trust (which includes a limited number of people with full rights to review and modify each user's profile and health record) and Care Team (which consists of the users-doctors that have access to their profile and medical data and can perform certain actions on their behalf). This feature is useful for keeping profiles of elderly and minors. The utilization of the capabilities of the blockchain technology in areas beyond cryptocurrencies is of particular value, especially in the field of health, where the IMPILO platform creates more reliable and durable networks, using the blockchain technology, while helping to the seamless communication between the various stakeholders (doctors, patients, hospitals, etc.). The decentralized data storage and full control of a patient's consent management process helps overcome issues such as the secure management of sensitive personal data and authorization to access medical data. Thus, blockchain is one of the most important components of the IMPILO platform that acts as a basis for recording all meaningful events in the application and provides security to users for the integrity of their data. The application is accessible via a smartphone application (for both Android and iOS operating systems) and a web interface, with a special emphasis on the design of functional, efficient and easy-to-use user interfaces, taking into account the requirements of the end users of the application and the specifics of the health sector.

Mobile applications must operate in environments which experience rapid and significant fluctuations in the quality of service (QoS) offered by their underlying communications infrastructure. These fluctuations may be the result of explicit changes between networks, increased competition for network resources or degradation of service due to environmental factors. In order to continue to operate effectively mobile applications must be capable

At different stages in a construction project the use of mobile devices is continuously increasing at an alarming rate. To make strategic decisions in a timely manner it is evidently important to have accurate information available at time in the construction industry which ultimately leads to the success of the project. Efficient and successful ways to use mobile equipment for construction workers are demonstrated in construction industry. Mobile devices are becoming more apparent because they have the potential to boost connectivity and efficiency. Mobile devices such as laptops and mobile phones are constantly used by building sites in countries such as the United States. To make building data models available on the mobile device, accessible for workplace use, many major construction management companies such as Autodesk are working on it. In this qualitative research, various research carried out by different authors has been reviewed and it is identified how people are using mobile devices on construction sites. These devices show that in a host of ways they make it possible for site workers to be increasingly successful.

Abstract Nowadays, increasing number of game engines are being developed for mobile platforms. As game engines developed for mobile platforms are small scale compared to console and desktop alternatives, game engine development in mobile platforms uses basic software development methods. However, as mobile platforms enhance and development of more complex games become possible, basic development methods will not scale well for advanced game development requirements. This paper examines design of a mobile ...

Today, many countries, including several European states, the USA, and Japan, are aging; both the number and the percentage of elderly people are increasing. To create a cohesive and inclusive intergenerational society, technological products and services must be adapted to the needs and preferences of these citizens. Mobile phones are promising tools to improve the quality of life for the elderly. This work presents a review of the status of mobile functionalities and applications that can satisfy the requirements and needs of older people and improve their quality of life. This analysis of the state of the art enables us to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the current systems as well as discover trends and promising future lines of research. This paper outlines several needs that should be met to improve the quality of research in this area. This work provides a basis for researchers, designers, and mobile phone service providers to think about the existing needs of the elderly, the developing trends in the field and the opportunities that mobile applications offer to improve the quality of life of the elderly and to support a cohesive and inclusive society.► Mobile phones are promising tools to improve the quality of life (QoL) for the elderly. ► We develop a review of the status of mobile applications to satisfy the needs of older people. ► The trends point to the design of holistic frameworks related to different components of the QoL models. ► This paper outlines needs to improve the quality of life of the elderly using mobile applications.

This research investigates how icons evolved throughout the history as a fundamental part of the mobile user interface design, the connection between icons’ visual representations and audience’s perception, the functional role of icons in the interaction between the user and the portable smart device, and their conceptual definition on the Graphical User Interface is examined by considering the location and its significance.
“Wish Tree Application”, which is designed as an artwork project for this thesis disputes the interaction between the codes that icons carry on while they are being designed and the audience’s perception by embodying it.

Internet of Things is widely used in connecting the devices to the digital world for secured and flexible data access. For achieving the above objective, we shall have a proposal to automate the devices (On or Off) with relay control by accessing the mobile applications using ESP 8266 Wi-Fi module (NODE MCU). This also helps to provide secured transmission. In this process, the devices are also monitored by sending communication to LPC 2148 microcontroller where GSM (Global System for Mobile Communication) will provide alert message and call from module to mobile about the information of the appliance. This information is also displayed as status in LCD 16X2 display. The PIR (Passive Infrared Radiation) sensor which is a human sensor is used to detect the movement by observing the human radiation. Once the movement of stranger is sensed, the status is sent to mobile and LCD display. Home security is thus provided nevertheless of human absence by getting call from the sensor.

To explore the potential of Ka-band to support mobile satellite services, the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) has initiated the design and development of a Ka-band land-mobile terminal to be used with the Advanced Communications Technology Satellite (ACTS). The planned experimental setup with ACTS is described. Brief functional descriptions of the mobile and fixed terminals are provided. The inputs required from the propagation community to support the design activities and the planned experiments are also discussed.
