As long as Web Services are getting into the heart of the growing e-business world, numbers of services available on the Web are increasing rapidly. With such a growth of available services, it is also becoming more and more difficult to discover these services manually. After manual discovery, manually composing these services to perform complex tasks is also a non-flexible and inefficient approach. Sometimes unavailability of a single service within Web services composition can cause a crash of the whole composite ...

Business models in mobile communication have remained surprisingly stable up to 4G. 5G and beyond generations will bring a fundamental change to how mobile connectivity is deployed and commercialized. This chapter explores value capture on 5G and 6G by looking at the business opportunities, business models, and changing platform-based business ecosystems of the future that extend beyond traditional company boundaries. Combining technology and strategy perspectives, six baseline business models are presented for 5G: General bit-pipe, Segmented specialized service, Wholesale service local operator, Retail service local operator, Vertical service operator, and Context service local operator. Additionally, 6GMNO, OTT operator, Edge operator, Telco broker, and Service-flow business models are envisioned for 6G. The chapter concludes by characterizing the future mobile communications business models as vertically, horizontally, or obliquely structured ecosystems.

A very important issue for the introduction of 3G networks, is the flexible and ubiquitous service provision. Basic factors for the achievement of this goal are the introduction of open interfaces for the service accessibility to network information and reconfigurability. This necessitates the introduction of a generic framework for the overall service provision management and respective reconfiguration requirements. Such a framework and generic architecture is presented in this paper.

This paper continues previous work of the authors concerning the identification and statistical analysis of the quality dimensions in mobile services (m-services). In this work, the structure of mservice quality into dimensions and criteria, which these dimensions are further analyzed into, is examined and grounded through an empirical analysis. The use of multivariate statistical techniques is decomposed into two stages: in the first stage, Factor Analysis in order to explore the relationship between the examined items (quality criteria) and the constructs (dimensions) proposed through the study of the relevant literature. In the second stage, Cluster Analysis and Principal Component Analysis are employed in order to explore intra-construct relationships. The contribution of this paper lies on the fact that a mix of multivariate statistical techniques is all integrated in a single framework, so that information about the structure of m-service quality criteria and constructs is obt...

The aim of this research was to explain the importance of sport in the use of digital media services on mobile devices. Relevant factors related to mobile TV usage were identified and the strength of their influence was analyzed to show that sport is a driving force for mobile TV usage. Inspired by service-dominant logic (SDL) and the sport value framework (SVF), an innovative research model was specified and tested empirically among three samples from Australia, Germany, and the U.S.A. SDL and SVF suggest value is always co-created and context dependent. Thus, usage situations were integrated as contextual factors in a structural equation model, with interest in sport and other psychological factors as independent variables and mobile TV usage intention as dependent variable. This study is one of the first empirically testing what motives lead to mobile sport viewing and how interest in sport drives mobile TV usage. The empirical findings imply that consumer interest in sport is hi...

The usage of mobile Internet service has been on the rise as more people become to use mobile devices. WiMAX, a mobile Internet service, was first commercialized in Korea in 2006. However, after first six months, a number of users discontinued the service and switched to other Internet services. Because customer retention is important for the success of any business, this research examines the factors that affect the continued usage of mobile Internet service. A user of a mobile Internet service is both a user of technology and consumer of services. Therefore, to examine the continued usage of mobile Internet service, the authors combine the value adoption model, representing the service consumer perspective, with the information systems continuance model, representing the technology user perspective. The study is conducted in the context of WiMAX. The data was collected from 200 WiMAX users. The model developed in this study is a unique contribution to theory as it discusses the co...

Events such as the riot at the United States Capitol and tightening constraints on the Russian public sphere have highlighted the socio-political significance of app store governance. This is dominated by Apple and Google as operators of the two largest smartphone platforms. In this article, we analyse two case studies: the removals from app stores in 2021 of the fringe American social media app Parler and of the Russian opposition app Smart Voting. On the basis of this analysis, we identify three critical limitations for app store governance at present: Apple's and Google's dominance, the substantive opacity of their respective app store guidelines, and the procedural arbitrariness with which these guidelines are applied to specific cases. We then assess the potential efficacy of legislative proposals in the EU and US to intervene in this domain and conclude by offering some recommendations supporting more efficacious and socially responsible app store governance.

The agents metaphor, expressed theoretically in the Distributed Artificial Intell igence field of Multi-Agent Systems, has been awakening the interest of the commercial software companies, because new emergent technologies like e-commerce follow the same metaphor from the consumer's perspective. Researchers in that field has been developing useful models that can be used to construct commercial servers, but the computational complexity problem and the lack of general models and architectures, sometimes make the technological transfer between researchers and commercial companies impracticable. State of the art is to put the focus on ontologies in order to create more general business models, but there are some software engineering issues related to the software construction that ontology does not cover. This paper offers a proposed solution to that problem, including conceptual aspects, and necessaries methods to model commercial Multi-Agent Systems, using fuzzy logic and evoluti...

This research focused on parameters of online reviews that affect business travelers` attitude and subjective norm on intention to purchase. The sub-constructs of attitude include: the quality of offered service, the value of money, hotel business facility, hotel security, food and beverage, and service recovery. Panel database, which was provided by Qualtrics, was used to examine the hypotheses of this study. Data was collected from 275 business travelers who stayed at a hotel in the last six months and read e-comments in advance of the purchase. Results of hypotheses testing indicated that quality of offered service, the value of money, and subjective norm have a positive effect on business travelers` intention to purchase. The findings of this research can help both hoteliers and online-review website operators. Since business travelers are considered an important target market in the hotel industry, hoteliers need to put more emphasis on these factors to attract more business tr...
